Re: Project: Slideways z26

Sorry no, I am positive the flywheel WON'T fit your crank -yes 3800s use an 8-bolt mounting pattern. BUT, the 3800 clutch-kit WILL bolt onto the flywheel for a 60-degree V-6. That Camaro flywheel IS thicker, as noted above in the 'Edit', by ~ 3/8 inch, so spacing the concentric slave closer to the ...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

This is some awesome work. :good: Professional-level fab work along with the engineering skills equals Beretta greatness! I do have some experience mixing and matching 3rd and 4th gen F-Body stuff with the Berettas. The 3800 T-5 is WAY stronger than the 2.8/3.1 from a third-gen, mainly the input sh...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

I put the trans back in and checked the starter clearance with the beretta flywheel. EEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKK http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l216/barrymaxx/C2D183DA-DEE4-4957-89E7-2C0C7B86B080_zpsgkvo7j0f.jpg Oil filter, OPSU, Starter, Steering shaft. Talk about cutting it close. Re: Project: Slideways z26

Ok, now I get it. Looks like minimal bumpsteer, too. I'm brainstorming a way to make a custom pilot bushing on the lathe for my FWD trans. Maybe get rid of that god damn input shaft rattle. The crank bore is ~.829". You could make a stepped bushing and maybe turn the input shaft down a little ...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

If if uses the same slave cylinder as the T56 - checkout the Tick Performance Speed Bleeder - I have one on the C6 - and it helped out when I did the clutch a year or so ago. Trans work blows - I'm gathering my third set of trans/diff for the Vette - and my setup is mostly OEM! Good call on the spe...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

New trans uses a longer input shaft so now I have full pilot bearing engagement which is nice. But its 26 spline so I need to have a clutch made. I believe this will allow me to use the beretta flywheel again instead of the heavy ass 2.8 camaro one. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l216/barrymaxx/9...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

Some updates. My new trans was a huge disappointment. I wanted the internal slave so I could save the tunnel clearance. I was thinking I could just unbolt the trans, slide it out, then get to the bellhousing bolts like on a t56. Welllll they bolted the salve to the trans and not the bellhousing so y...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

For the top of your strut tower I wonder if this would help: A steel or aluminum plate cut out like a doughnut with inner and outer diameter, probably 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick on top to help sandwich the top of the strut tower steel between the plate and the top of the strut. I think there is clearanc...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

Not sure I follow you on the knuckle blocks. Having a hard time envisioning it. I know you posted a BMW knuckle pic on facebook but I don't remember. Here's the bumpsteer stud I got from Speedway. Using it this way for a balljoint wouldn't give you dick for ground clearance but you can just nut it ...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

All the steering components are on order. Ill be making some tierod sleeves that convert from the BMW M14x1.5 to standard 1/2-20 heims so I can run easy to find off the shelf heims. I need to do this to my drift car too because metric heims seem to be annoying to find in a 1.5 thread. Also designed ...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

Yeah Woody, I have some studs that convert the bmw taper to 5/8 stud. I need to figure something similar for the tierods as the low mounted rack will have pretty bad bump steer if left stock. Didnt get as much done as I hoped this weekend. Mounted up the e36 top plates. Wish I could of made plates l...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

Developing new control arms. I need to add caster because FWD cars typically have low caster numbers factory, perhaps for torque steer reasons I don't know. I am building tubular arms with adjustable heim joints to offer caster adjustability along with track width and camber. The arms are longer tha...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

Are the pics in this thread dead? They show up for me but I suspected they would be lost in the photobucket changes. If they still show up ill post some update pics. Ive been slowly picking at things but not really posting about it. New custom control arms are in the works. Rack is mounted and steer...

Re: Here I go Again.... AWD Retto

Could do divorced t-case too if you have the space.

Do you plan on tucking this motor and trans up into the body like stock or having most of it be under the floor boards?
