Re: Project: Slideways z26

Ok, now I get it. Looks like minimal bumpsteer, too.

I'm brainstorming a way to make a custom pilot bushing on the lathe for my FWD trans. Maybe get rid of that god damn input shaft rattle.

Re: 96 sub frame engine transmission swap into a 93

I don't remember what Ricky did for tuning, but the OBD1 $A1 mask from the 93 is well documented and very tunable. So a harness swap is not absolutely necessary. OBD2 computer from the 96 will be easier to get tuning done by a shop in sure though. Physically everything should swap over directly. You...

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

Nice find on the summit fans. By the size specs it should be a drop in... I'm surprised you had to trim it. Mine measures exactly 26" wide. I'll have to measure the depth of the stock fan. I went with the slim 96 version to clear my front headers. I wonder if it is thinner than 4" or not.

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

More engine porn! Just kidding. Fan shroud hack job pics. Car puked coolant at the burnout contest last year before the gauge showed it being that hot. But...I did have the gauge sensor in the block and not the head like factory. And 4-5000rpm sitting still is probably gonna get warm when you're onl...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

Not sure I follow you on the knuckle blocks. Having a hard time envisioning it. I know you posted a BMW knuckle pic on facebook but I don't remember. Here's the bumpsteer stud I got from Speedway. Using it this way for a balljoint wouldn't give you dick for ground clearance but you can just nut it a...

Re: Intake idea

Interesting design. I'm generally a fan of the "keep it simple stupid" build theory. Less things to go wrong. OEM cars are getting more and more complicated all the time and reaping the rewards...but they also do have better resources for R&D etc.

Re: Project: Slideways z26

Ok, I see how you did the caster adjustment with the rear lca mount. Pretty sweet setup. Do you plan on running a bump steer stud in the spindle to hook to your rod end as a ball joint? Probably the best way to. You can buy them in 7* or 10* taper. Not sure what the Beretta spindle is reamed for. We...

Re: LS1/t56 swap

It's amazing the progress you've already made outside...I think I work just as slow with an attached garage! haha

Those cantilever setups can really work well. Be another thing to add to the cool factor too.

I was having an awful hard time liking it before...the lines just didnt seem to work well together. But that looks a whole lot better smoothed out. Nice work.

Re: Muffler to make quad4 sound good?

My car has been a summer DD for 6 years with the VT. I drive so many short trips (1mi commute to work) that the stainless pipe rusted out but the spring is still perfect. There are some pics of my muffler rebuild in my build thread. Simple enough job, and definitely worth it to keep the valve feature.

Re: Muffler to make quad4 sound good?

I'm also a fan of Dynomax stuff. I actually had a universal 2" Dynomax Super Turbo on my Q4 in high school, but it also had no cat and it was pretty raspy. No sounds clips though during the dawn of the 640x480px digital camera. haha I have a Dynomax VT on my v6 now. I like the sound. The valve ...

Do you recall what he had for a cam? I was a little surprised at how small the street/strip cam from Wot-Tech actually is.

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

Well I have two man trans shifters that are bolted directly on top of the transmission. And one of those has 6 forward gears. :P Just now digging into why the reverse lights no longer work after the rebuild from Midwest Trans. I see how it's supposed to work and the bar does contact the switch, but ...

Re: Project 91 "SS" 3400/5spd

Syncro clearances check out according to Jeff at EP and the tooth to tooth check Midwest Trans had me do also checks out. Shift fork appears to be fine. Jeff is thinking shift cable actually. There is a little bit of wiggle for that plastic retainer on the steel shift cable end and he thinks that mi...
