Re: Project: Slideways z26

Yeah 4.8. Cant complain about it. Low end isnt great. But I haul/tow 7000lbs every drift event through mountains and it does well. I just drop it in 4th and let the cruise control do its job. Best part is 13.5MPG hauling all that crap, 15 back and fourth to work. Thoughts of putting a 6.0 in it and ...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

This is why I havent worked on the car for a while. Built this BMW. It used to be my daily. Now its a caged 360whp monster, that is still kind of street legal. It sees drift and HPDE use from april to december, so its off season right now. It needs work for the upcoming season that may cut into bere...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

Still working with front suspension geometry. Moved the balljoint in the arm to simulate a different setup. I like the forward movement of it, it helped with steering angles. The added width isnt good for me at this point, it will make any reasonable wheel poke out of the fender too much. This is ju...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

Haha quite a few blades and grinding wheels. Got a plasma now too for even more cutting stuff I probably shouldnt. Subframe will be tied back into the frame rails. And bottom of rad support will be braced as well, because without the front half of the subframe its just flopping in the wind pretty mu...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

Tonight I cut the front subframe. Also cut up a e46 subframe to fit in between, mostly for structure and steering rack mounting. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l216/barrymaxx/2E42A16D-8C2B-49EF-A099-35A6C3D470C3_zpsmrjy9eu8.jpg Here is the rack alignment. You can see the rack is a tad bit ahead o...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

I don't particularly like 5x120, but I have 30 or so wheels in that pattern already. Only have 2 17x9's in 5x114 for the back. I will probably adapt that to 120 so I can use all my drift wheels

Re: LS1/t56 swap

Damn thats a lot! I was running 5* on the beretta fwd, just pulled the subframe up as far as it would go. Not sure what the factory specs were or how much i really moved it tho. Visually nothing changed. I guess i better figure out how do measure it on this suspension.. Thanks! Honestly i probably ...

Re: Project: Slideways z26

Moved into the shop Saturday Monday night already got the car ripped back apart and fitting new parts to see if any of this stuff will work. I am toying with the idea of keeping the stock beretta control arms and using e46 knuckles and struts. Here is them bolted up. The e46 takes a different balljo...

Re: LS1/t56 swap

Yeah thats what I was thinking. It would be good center them in the wheel well with desired caster because if your a few degrees off it could move the wheel front to back a fair bit. If I remember right I increased my BMW caster by around 2 degrees and it looked like the wheel moved about a half inc...

Re: LS1/t56 swap

http://tiltonracing.com/product/600-series-firewall-mount-aluminum-pedal-assembly/ Something like that. Its not cheap but pedals are really important. I think I want an "overhung" setup. I guess it all depends on what I end up with for a steering shaft/location. Like this: http://tiltonrac...

Re: Intermediate shaft/jack-shaft

Just dont do right wheeler pealers with the wheel turned too far or the stamped bracket will pretzel and the bearing/axle slides apart. Some guy I know did that

Re: Intermediate shaft/jack-shaft

That aluminum housed one also uses a weak aluminum bracket to attach to the block. I have fount many of them are cracked. Yes there is a bare shaft with a stamped steel bracket. I have found this on both berettas and j-bodies. It is better than the aluminum housing one but not as nice as that cast b...
