Going from a 3.8 to a 3.72" bore size on the gasket increases compression like .06 of a point. Yeah, I answered my own question.

What bore size are you gonna get for the head gaskets? if you stick with the default of 3.720" won't that slightly increase compression vs the stock 3.8" gasket as well? And didn't I read something possibly from Superdave NOT to go any thinner than the stock .060" for the head gasket?...

Re: Can I get away with antifreeze/coolant that isn't DEX-COOL?
Actually, you can add green stuff to dexcool just fine. You will just lose the "extended life" of the dexcool and it will all become regular life antifreeze. That being said, why anyone would want to put dexcool into their car, after we know it is one of the major causes of the intake gask...

Re: Unauthorized photos - one and only 3500 intercooled turbo
I cut off the old connectors and soldered/shrink wrapped the OBD1 connectors on. I have both a 93 and 94 gm service manual so I had all the info I needed.
No reason to swap the whole harness, that would be a lot of work for nothing.

Re: It all goes downhill at once!
Ugh, that is a horrible design. On the trans the bushing is missing, and the cable still stays on, but on the shifter, as soon as you move it, boom it just falls off and you are stuck in a gear in traffic and can get hit.. not cool. Mine won't even "snap" you push it on, it just drops off...

Re: It all goes downhill at once!
From what you're describing it sounds like a lifter is intermittently collapsing... Did you change your valve springs? You sure all your rockers are tight? No bent pushrods?
I'd start there, then change your oil again, hopefully it will clear up.

Re: It all goes downhill at once!
Yeah Barry I have the spec stage 3+ clutch (same pressure plate as yours), and it is barely stiffer than stock. It seemed to hold up on the turbo car, it may have been slipping in high gear a bit on the highway, but Im still not sure of that. So I took the clutch in to this local shop, to have the p...

Re: lbody headers...
How is that going to clear??? It would get banged up to hell. My subframes scrape all the time, and the oil pan is not much higher than those. The bump skids that are welded to the subframe is the only thing preventing the oil pan from hitting... If you had an ideal world with no hills or driveways...

Re: lbody headers...
Just a thought.. how come these weren't designed with the front header going straight down, and collector running under the oil pan? There's tons of room under there, and not only would this be better performance wise, (and give the option of running dual exhaust, if so desired) but would eliminate ...

Re: spark/ignition
Its not that your stuff is worthless, just unnecessary! Those friggin coils are expensive, and unless you are getting them for nothing, or close to it, there are better things to spend the money on..

Re: spark/ignition
First of all, the waste spark GM coils are already outputting nearly 40,000 volts, which is extremely high for a stock vehicle especially when you compare to old distributor based systems. Of course there is a benefit of using low resistance wires, to take advantage of all that voltage! Secondly, I ...

Re: The Old Man is going Turbo!
I really think you're making a huge mistake by keeping the 3.73's. This thing is not going to get any traction. Even if you don't have boost off the line, its going to kick in and break the tires loose. If I had a choice in my gearing, I'd be runing something numerically way lower. You should be con...

Re: The Old Man is going Turbo!
LOL, this should be fun. I will give you my build checklist when I get back to bowmanville so you can start collecting the parts you need. Some things I got really cheap, like the ls1 fuel pump from ebay for $30, and my injectors, which if you don't search around for a deal could easily blow your bu...
