Re: weird idle

sounds normal? i'm not 100% on stock Q4 calibrations, but it is entirely possible that when at 0MPH, a park/neutral rev limiter that would normally be used on an automatic car is used on the manuals. 3500 seems about right for other engines of the era. as long as it didn't happen while driving, i'd ...

Re: Datalogging and/or tuning your OBD1 Beretta

at the moment, i really couldn't say, could be anywhere up to a month due to some supplier issues.

Re: Datalogging and/or tuning your OBD1 Beretta

no arduino about it really.... just that the USB-TTL converter i use is marketed as such.

i've been selling them for $45/shipped with $5 of each cable going to the forum admins for a while. i wouldn't mind doing the same here.

that being said, i don't have any on-hand at the moment.

Re: Datalogging and/or tuning your OBD1 Beretta

1990 Q4 being a 1228707? that ECM is more or less a 1227730 with extra 2K of SRAM from the 16149396 and the second injector driver(and FMD) from the 1227749. i think. been a while since i've seen one. if so, there is probably at least one open A/D channel that could be used for wideband AFR. as for ...

Re: Datalogging and/or tuning your OBD1 Beretta

widebands are fairly standalone in nature.... most ECMs have an extra A/D channel open so that you can feed the signal into the ECM to have it spit out over the ALDL stream along with all of the other data. if you patch enough code, you can actually remove the need for a narrowband sensor and do all...

Re: Datalogging and/or tuning your OBD1 Beretta

if you're looking to datalog only, the XDF and BIN is of no importance to you. you'll only need the ADS/ADX. being an 88, if it never got the MAF disable recall done, then yes, it would be $46 or perhaps $55. the MAF disable update changed them to $6D. i don't have an ARCL BIN on-hand, but it was re...

Re: TGP LG5 Turbo 3.1 ECU/MAP/Injectors

gearhead-efi.com for files/diagrams/etc. we've built up quite a collection. as for people selling them cheap/used.... not really. when people buy stuff from Moates, they tend to hang onto it. i've been watching for a used emulator for over a year now and i think 2 have popped up for sale in that tim...

Re: TGP LG5 Turbo 3.1 ECU/MAP/Injectors

for almost anything OBD1 that you'll be playing with, moates.net, BURN2(or go with an emulator(ostrich) or emulator/burner combo(autoprom)) covers programming and reading. at that point, could either use adapters to plug chips into it, or remove the old PROM from the MEMCAL and solder in 27SF512s an...

Re: TGP LG5 Turbo 3.1 ECU/MAP/Injectors

with the builds you have listed, i assumed you had a burner, or an ALDL cable at the very least... stock TGP calibrations were intermittent at best, even in their native applications. from the factory, you should have a 1227730 ECM, which CAN run TGP code without any problems. i assume you have the ...

Re: TGP LG5 Turbo 3.1 ECU/MAP/Injectors

88999195 is a remanned 7727, so that would work fine. a TGP MEMCAL would be useful IF the ECM ever goes into limp-home mode(and running stock everything), otherwise it has no advantage over any other 2.8/3.1 MEMCAL. the knock filter on the TGP MEMCAL is the same as other 3.1s and even most 2.8s. eve...

Re: TGP LG5 Turbo 3.1 ECU/MAP/Injectors

the TGP ECM was a 1227727(which was used with almost all of the W 2.8/3.1 applications).... you can find them in almost every W-body from 88-92. pin-for-pin compatible is the 16149396, just has 2K of extra RAM, found in the 91-93 W-body 3.4 and 93-94 W-body 3.1(but not 3100) cars.

1/4 to 1/3 seems like a reasonable estimate. 1/4 to 7/20 just sounds weird.

Re: Well here comes the "Build I Have Been Wanting For 20 Ye

75%? that is being generous. depending on the calibration(and vendor's software), i'd say more like 25-33%. some VERY popular stuff, maybe 50-75%. there are SO many complex functions that are not defined in most calibrations. some of which should never really be touched to begin with, but some are q...

Re: Rich smelly and farty - part 2 saga continues

16.7 vs 17.5ish lb/hr.

it's about a 5% difference, so while not optimal, i'm sure there are people running injectors that have skewed over time to worse than that.

Re: Well here comes the "Build I Have Been Wanting For 20 Ye

4L70 is based on the 60. the 80 is basically a TH400 w/ an overdrive gear and electronic control.

the 6 speed autos shift stupid-fast and consistently though.
