Re: Trans swap interchange

Is it Pennzoil Syncromesh that you put in the trans? this is very important. Some guys think its okay to use gear oil, auto transmission oil, or even engine oil in these transmissions, and they will NOT shift properly with anything but syncromesh in there. Also, is the level completely full? Make su...

Re: not a beretta, but a 3400 car.

It isn't rods if its coming from up top. It's probably a lifter. Use the scope to figure out which cylinder, or at least which bank it is. Then pull off the valve cover and check each pushrod while turning the engine over by hand. When a cylinder is at TDC, both valves should be closed so check if o...

Re: Trans swap interchange

Sounds to me like your clutch isn't disengaging properly. Clutch fluid full? How old is the clutch? Try adjusting the pedal up, so that it travels more. At a full stop you should have NO problem getting into any gear even if your syncros are gonzo. What oil do you have in the trans? You should have ...

Re: Phantom Stall

Do the idle relearn as I suggested and see what happens. Anytime you disconnect the battery you are supposed to do it.

Re: not a beretta, but a 3400 car.

Does it sound like its coming from the bottom end? Or does it sound like its coming from the valley? Is it a tick? Or a knock?

It could be a lifter not pumping up.

Use a mechanics stethoscope and check along each valve cover. You should be able to tell which cylinder is noisy.

Re: Phantom Stall

Check the IAC valve. Take it apart and clean it, and then set it about 50% of the way out. Then do an idle relearn. The procedure is on here somewhere. Basically just start the car, don't touch the gas pedal or anything, let it come up to operating temp and let the fan cycle on and off twice. Once i...

Re: Trans swap interchange

1. That trans is internal slave. Your trans is external. Doesn't really matter because you'd have to switch belhousings anyway, but still noteworthy. 2. That transmission has garbage, I will repeat, garbage gear ratios. It has very wide spaced gearing. IIRC it has the deep 1st gear (3.77) AND 3.94 F...

Re: List of boosted stock internal 3x00 engines?

I can only speak for a 3500 because that's all I've used. I have a well matched T3/T4 turbo with an intercooler. The first engine I blew, I had a misfire/backfire going on, that I believe was ignition related but I'm not 100% sure. I was going down the track and it started popping, and I kept my foo...

Re: Greddy emanage wiring??

The manual doesn't tell me where 96 Beretta wires are... Your topic is "greddy emanage wiring" and you asked for someone who has experience with that platform. You obviously want someone to spoon feed you. If you didn't you would have just asked for a wiring diagram for a 96 Beretta. Rega...

Read the manual?

A google search of "greddy emanage blue" came up with the second result being the installation manual pdf.

Re: WTB: Older style Subframes

I4 is the same, he can use subframes from a V6, quad or I4 car as long as its 92-93. And actually its only the passenger side that's important, since he needs the mount for the dogbone. Any year subframe will work for the drivers side. And no, cavaliers never got the engine mount upgrades that the B...
