Re: Anyone using a performance rad?

You also do not have 8 extra feet of exhaust piping and a turbo raising underhood temps.

The car definitely does not stay as cool as I'd like at the track.

Re: Anyone using a performance rad?

It is cracking because the dump pipe from the wastegate is rather close. The plastic is heating up and fatiguing. Clearly that is the weak spot since both rads have identical cracks, and Bman said his rad cracked in the same spot before too. That being said, the rad is way too small for the car anyw...

Anyone using a performance rad?

So I've cracked two stock rads in the identical spot, and have been looking at aluminum rads at summit as a replacement. Specifically the Griffin 1-25271-H Anyone running an aluminum aftermarket rad? Any issues? From what I can tell that one should fit right in, and may even be able to utilize the s...

Re: Well it was only a matter of time. I HATE QUADS AGAIN!

Let me explain a little further, as my last post was unclear a bit. When I spoke about the fan physically moving in the opposite direction, I meant moving axially - the fan actually being pushed back from the amount of air it is moving (not wanting to rotate from the torque of the motor). My testing...

Re: Well it was only a matter of time. I HATE QUADS AGAIN!

What you are feeling is that bit of air being disturbed around the ends of the blades. Take the fan off the car, and put power to it to make it spin the correct way. Stick your hand in front and take note of the amount of air you feel. Also take note of how much the fan wants to physically move in t...

Re: Well it was only a matter of time. I HATE QUADS AGAIN!

It might be worth-while to consider a pusher setup like I've got on the GTU and also the Z-26... 04-27-09_1911.jpg I know the fan is not at peak efficiency because the blades are turning backwards, but it still pushes a lot of CFM, and if it explodes, it can't hurt the engine. It is also nice to ha...

Re: Steering rack heat shield

I made one but my setup is a bit different then everyone elses. Since I used two front 3500 manifolds, it came pretty close to the rack and I actually melted the boot pretty bad. So I took a piece of stainless sheet metal put about a 75 degree fold in it to follow the manifold, cut out around the ga...

Re: WTB 92+ V6 5spd Tranny

You can use the Quad 4 jack shaft, but you will have to make up a custom bracket to mount it to the engine. You MUST modify the V6 bracket anyway to use it so its up to you what you wanna do. The 3500 has slightly different mounting points on the block for that bracket compared to 3400s and 3100s, i...

Re: 94 Quad 4 to (3x00) OBD2 Swap Help

You will want to use the actual weld on brackets to match the mounts and also make sure they are positioned in the right spot. Unless you like having axle issues. His car already has the brackets in the right spot since it was already a 5 speed car (obviously). He has everything he needs to do this...

It's hard to tell from the pics, but is the wastegate run off only 1 cylinder? You may run into issues with boost spike if that is the case. Just trying to help...

Re: WTB: 1992+ Intermediate/Jack shaft

Just an FYI, the quad shaft is about 3/4 of an inch longer or shorter than the V6 (I cannot remember which is which, but one is definitely shorter than the other).

Quad 4 parts - Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Hey guys, I have an 086 head that was reman'd and shortly after being bolted on a rod was thrown. This was on a parts car I bought, so this is what the previous owner said. And going by the condition of the head, I'd say its true. There are NO cracks in this head, and no evidence of repair that I ca...
