Re: 89 gtz
Its not a Z26. Its a base 2.2 auto. I called the guy weeks ago and talked to him. The pic is not the actual car, its just some pic from motortropia.berettaboi wrote:the red 96 z i replied to a week or so ago... it already had 300+ views... no reply.

Re: Roberts 89GT Engine build.
If I didn't know better I'd say that is a 3500 block, because that looks to be exactly how far off a jackshaft is from bolting up on a 3500. Maybe the late 3400 blocks share the same changed boss locations as a 3500? I have the stamped steel bracket and I cut it and welded in a piece of angle iron i...

Re: best cam in 3500?
Actually, most of the time when guys runing boost change their cam they end up going slower. A cam change may increase peak hp, but at a cost of low end torque and increased turbo lag. In the turbo buick world, guys have gone into the 9's with the stock cam, and it is very close to a stock 3x00 cam....

Re: best cam in 3500?
if you blow a 3400 it cost you 300$ to get another one. so if he stay in a reasonable hp level 300 to 350...he will be okay with a stock engine. once he get it dial-in he may build is engine aftewards ( if he wants more) when im playing with boost i always try my luck on a stocker because bad luck ...

Re: REALLY the Knock Sensor or is it the ECM?
Jon, not sure what you are thinking about there but unplugging the KS will throw a code within about 10 seconds (on a v6 or a quad). On the quad 4 there is an internal resistance of 90k-100k ohms in the knock sensor which the ECM is looking for at all times. If the ECM sees anything else, including ...

The cooling fan doesnt come on till 110 or 115 degrees IIRC. Which is about the 3/4 mark on a standard cluster temp gauge.

Re: So I went to the track lastnight....
The 3500 is untouched except valve springs - I have LS6 yellow springs so that I can rev a little higher. How much boost a 3500 can handle is a hard question to answer. Assuming you have properly sized the turbo to your engine, it will mostly depend on the tune and what gas you are running. If your ...

Re: So I went to the track lastnight....
I left at about 3500 rpm and dumped the clutch. The track was actually well prepped for a wednesday test and tune night I was really surprised. I could have launched it harder. Thats with 24.5 x 8.5 slicks.

Re: So I went to the track lastnight....
Actually it was a supercharged 99-04 mustang that just was not running right all night. I think he made one good pass with the car and after that he was having some serious issues. Too bad because it probably would have been a good race, his supercharger was hella loud.
