Re: -
I considered going with Mazdacomp dry sump system to increase the flow.. But obviously it bit too much set up about 4-5K. Anyone have any other suggestion to increase oil flow volume?? Any trick to modifying stock oil pump etc?? Well, this is somewhat a different discussion than the OP's "MPG&...

Thanks for the update, glad they took care of it. I like RA and am happy to support them back.Styluss wrote:They have supported us EVERY year we've asked them to do so! What you see above is an odd one off that was remedied quickly!

Re: New guy from CA!
Wow! Beautiful car, nice background story too, thank you for sharing! I am still missing a GTZ from my Beretta collection (probably not going to happen), so I am just a tad jealous, 1990 is THE year IMO. Hope to see more of it around on the site, welcome to the addiction. BTW, -I have a 300ZX Turbo ...

Re: X Code 3.4 install in 96 Z26
Funny you should ask... :D This swap has been talked about and kicked around in discussions for as far back as I go into these Forums, including the now-dead bstuff . As far as I have ever seen, ONE mock-up was done (actually in a "J-Body" Cavalier bay, which was in that era the same as ou...

Re: Advice for an old 89 GTU
When I bought my Yellow Indy, the car had been daily-driven, but the previous owner didn't have much mechanical aptitude, and had issues with an improperly installed front wheel bearing (twice). So I had to trailer it home. Worse, he was a bit of a slob: when I pulled the seats to repair some of the...

Re: what did you do to your ride today?
The first-gen Cruzes had a 1.4T and 1.8n/a with the manual, and that was it. There was a 2.0T diesel that was auto only, but the next gen (16+) I think did get the manual with the diesel. I totally missed that the Cruze's 2.0 was a diesel! Well, NOT the Saab Ecotech then!  Do yo...

Re: what did you do to your ride today?
The Saab was a no-go: slush-box. Nice little car in very clean condition in and out, even if it had the wrong 'stick' transmission I could have been interested in it for ~$100, but I have no idea what is wrong with it and I have no interest in another automatic convertible -we still have the six-spe...

Re: what did you do to your ride today?
No! Oof. I locked up a 282 once, but was able to save it. It had a snap ring failure that allowed the gears to move on the shaft. Rebuilt it and I was back in business. That just blocked me out of gear with the engine running and then locked in a couple gears at once when I stopped and tried to dia...

Re: Engine movement when placed into reverse
There should be a small amount of flexibility in the dogbone (torque-strut), if that is what you mean by 'slack', but not a lot. It shouldn't move, like slide back and forth, in the bracket AT ALL. When GM re-designed the engine-mounts for these cars, they gave them a lot more 'slop' than they had i...

Re: what did you do to your ride today?
...I blew it up. =@ Well, I HAD the first-ever documented (so far as I have seen) six-speed Beretta. On the way home, the GTU's transmission locked up. Jammed completely in all forward gears, I'll look into reverse tomorrow maybe. DAMN! The F40 has been a PITA from the beginning, with the third-shaf...

Re: Budget LS swap 6spd RWD Z26 project.
Added caster-angle will certainly make it more stable in a straight-line, probably turn smoother for you in a corner too. You are definitely re-inventing the wheel on this one, but it will probably roll better than the original, and yeah, if you can remove the repetitive joke that is "turning r...

Re: The $500 beater Blazer Z69 offroader
$800 with a bad axle-shaft isn't bad these days.. I have seen exactly ONE 2WD Blazer of the era -and it was on the back of a truck going into the junk-yard! Another 5-speed though... You keep striking pay-dirt on those. Looks like it could be a decent rig.

Re: Running rich, slight misfire at all times when at idle. Help!
New doesn't mean good. '96 is true OBD-2, so a functional scan-tool is easy and cheap to find. For the low temp, make sure it is actually running that cold, not just an inaccurate gauge. What temp thermostat did you give it? You are probably going to find something very basic as your problem -a low-...

67 vs 68...vent window vs no vent window. Exactly. I worked at a restoration-parts shop for a while -we both made parts for dealers like Classic and OPG, and distributed locally for them -the only dealer in the region at the time. I helped catalog, code, and created the format for the newly-generat...

Right there with you on Cameros -wing windows or no wing windows! :D These AMCs are usually mistaken for the more popular "AMX" cars, and in fact are all but the same thing. The Javelin (mine is an "SST" model) is several inches longer in the quarter-panel section -easiest way to...
