well to update......
the guy told me he couldnt sell me the car because he was a salvage yard and could only part it out then crush the rest. i have no idea why he wouldnt sell it.....maybe a title issue?

what do i need to know about buying a car from a salvage yard? i think i have found a car that "runs and drives" but it isnt clear (yet!) what the title status is. its going to be a few days before i can get to the yard to look at it because it is over 2 hours away. are there any red flags...

i tried acetone today and it worked like a dream on one side. the other door seemed to be a different kind of paint. it wouldnt budge so i wetsanded a bit and removed most of the spray paint. my plan now is to just have that door painted. any body have any ball parks on painting one prepped door?

nah.....tried that to no victory.
goof off didnt do anything either. the only thing i have had luck with is lacquer thinner and it just isnt touching the thick layers

the strongest paint solvent thats safe for factory paint?
is there a solvent thats stronger than lacquer thinner but safe for factory paint? i'm trying to get some spray paint off of the factory job on my cavalier. the thin layers are coming off ok with lacquer thinner but the heavy areas arent doing much....

definitely take as much of the interior out. pull the panels under the steering wheel. if there is a black plastic cover against the firewall pull as much of away as you can. get a flashlight and shine up there to look for rust spots. my leak ran along the firewall and wheel well seam. the rust spot...
