Do you want me to see if I can get these GTU decals printed on clear vinyl? It's rather simple if the colors are silver and black... and just red for the lettering. I would get them laminated as well.

What function do you use? I'm curious... or do you just outline it by hand?

Printing the tiny captions would be a lot easier than trying to cut them. And OEM they are printed. The GTU/GTZ is always in silver and the caption in red. No black.

Being always silver makes it uber easy then.

Remember that GTZ logo is not original, that's a die cut version... not sure who had it done or what they used for reference.

Yikes...that one has definitely been "doctored." I can see from my old GTZ photo it's not right. T is way off and the Z is funky. Probably best to work with my old artwork from college.

I draw it by hand with the pen tool. Much cleaner way to do it with a lot more control of the bezier curves. The live trace works good for irregular shapes, but when things get straight and geometric it has trouble.

Sent an email to the Camaro Signs guy... Hopefully he responds. I found the email on the website was different than what I had been using, maybe that's why he hasn't replied lately.

I haven't had trouble with the trace since most of that is odd shapes, plus I found it easier to have it traced then just straighten stuff out... that's just me though, I'm not good at drawing freehand with a mouse.

The GTU original one has a pretty sharp corner, just a fyi.

Yup, I have an original GTU in my hand right now. The radius is very small.

3X00 -What price are we talking about for printing a full set (three) of the GTU decals? Would it be any different if there were customized lettering on the red portions? Feel free to PM me about it if you prefer...
Woody -What did the red cars get then? I'm sure I can find some photos, but I just can't picture it in my head, did Chevy actually put red decals on red cars? :unknown:

According to this picture it looks like red on red. haha

The font isn't done yet, but if you let me know the caption you want I can lay it out in AI.

I don't have a price yet and the guy I use still hasn't replied to my email. Maybe I'll call them and see wtf is up...

Wow, red on red... Okay, I am a little surprised by that...

I am still trying to figure out what I want, trying to make sure my custom caption would run the same physical length as the original. I am thinking:
2.8 MULTI-PORT FUEL INJECTION
Changed to:
3.8 SUPERCHARGED SFI IMSA

But it doesn't run the right length. I've tried a few other options, and everything runs way too long, or way too short, this is the closest I've gotten yet. I don't know how much I want to dink with the font size, but that may end up my only real option... Thoughts?

The actually say 2.8 MULTI-PORT INJECTION so you're closer than you think. I did one for Jon that says 3.1L TURBOCHARGED that looked really good. I would keep it simple rather than over-complicate it. I was thinking about some variations of 3.4L V6 5-SPD LSD or something for mine and didnt really like anything until I thought of GEARHEAD DEZIGNED. Short & sweet.

Red on red is correct for the GTU decals. The red of the decal is "tomato red" or something weird. It's not the same red as the exterior paint color. I went back and looked at my GTZ decals and yeah, the second set they did are a bit funky, especially the "T". Sorry guys, the first set was much better.

Also, Jon and Eric, I sent you both a stock rear decal but Jon you got a copy of the side decal for size reference while I did send Eric my last OEM side. If you want to do these as they came stock then the entire rear decal is printed on one piece of clear vinyl but the OEM sides had the GTU part diecut in silver vinyl while the lower 2.8....... was printed on clear vinyl.
