Nobody Loves us... Belt Weatherstripping search.
I just thought I would throw this out there. I sent Fairchild Industries a request for custom work on possibly replicating our window dew strips. I don't know what they are going to say but I hope to be working with them on this soon. I'm only asking for them to replicate the rubber part so you would have to find a good molding piece and the replace the rubber if this all goes through.
However I would like to possibly get a running tally of who may be interested in buying some of this so I can present this to them when they give me a min quantity for a custom product.
I really hope this goes through since I have one set as a spare, BUT one is hard and brittle... where the other one is playable... I'm getting to the point of needing them on the 96 real soon too.

The piece is rubber and metal though, not just rubber...

Re: Fairchild Industries Belt Weatherstripping
Not the whole part, the exterior trim part you would have to already have I'm only asking to have the rubber/felt strips replaced... the seal part it's held onto the molding part with bent over tabs and if there is in-fact a strip of metal in it for rigidity which I did not see,(since I did not cut one up yet to get a profile) I'm sure they could add that in. This is a huge company that this is all they do, make weatherstripping, they simply need to see the request/demand for a product and they can extrude mold anything.scd88ga wrote:The piece is rubber and metal though, not just rubber...

Re: Fairchild Industries Belt Weatherstripping
Currently I'm only asking them to do outers...
Inners have a GM PN that you could look up...
Item 33
22646061- VPI quantity 192
22646060- VPI quantity 1
Number 35 isn't even listed in the list of parts.
If this goes good then I could ask them about the inner as well.

I actually found PN's for the outers but VPI doesn't list them.

Aren't the dew wipes still sold through VPI?

Re: Fairchild Industries Belt Weatherstripping
Pretty sure I got mine at New GM Parts. Yes inside and out.
But I'm glad that you are trying to find a new source.
Yeah I bet most do come from VPI. All I know is that VPI didn't have my 90's gas tank and I found one at a small GM dealer.

I guess I talk to myself... Please read the previous posts. If VPI had them I would have just ordered them and not bothered with this direction.ErichZ26 wrote:Aren't the dew wipes still sold through VPI?
GM and VPI no longer have any of the outer dew strips listed... VPI only has the inners and a very limited qty to say the least.
PN's are listed above... either prove me wrong or find different part numbers that VPI will recognize.

Re: Fairchild Industries Belt Weatherstripping
I get another set of numbers, same diagram as your's. I got my list from the dealer and it's for the 87-91 Beretta /Corsica. These are all listed as "sealing strip", group # 10.710.
10163984 WDO OTR-RH (1987-89 EXC Z11)
10163985 WDO OTR-LH (1987-89 EXT Z11)
10163988 FRT S/D WDO OTR (1987-89 Z11) (1990-91)RH
10163989 FRT S/D WDO OTR (1987-89 Z11) (1990-91)LH
22586228 FRT S/D WDO INR (INCL 3) RH Discon
22586229 FRT S/D WDO INR (INCL 3) LH Discon
Outer's are listed so that you are sure which is which. With that said I don't know what Z11 is, or which ones are for the Corsica.
Well those may work, but the ones I got from D Fontana(old member here) list the same numbers that you posted. Yes they are still in the GM packages.

Re: Fairchild Industries Belt Weatherstripping
By the way the outer does come with the trim. That makes it easy to tell.
I did replace the ones on the 90GT, but that was many years ago and I'd bet they were from New GM Parts.
