Solarwing; best way to install?
I'm thinking it's time to reinstall my old Solarwing...
I've used 3M double sided tape in the past, but it never seems to hold well enough. I'm considering using the 3M again, but also going around the edges with Window Weld.
Any other or better suggestions?

If you prep it properly and make sure it's squeaky clean, the 3M should be just fine.

It seems to hold for about a month or two, then the corners start coming up again! I'll try it again, one more time!

Lay the solar wing on the window and find where it's not touching... Heat that area with a heat gun or hair dryer and flex it into position. You probably have some excess stress from it not sitting perfect which pulls up the tape when it sits in the sun.

OR you could throw the damn thing in the garbage and leave the classic lines of the car intact.
Just a thought!

I'd use the heat method to find the lifting points. It shouldnt mess it up.
or ya could ... Put a fat chick with a party hat on it and drive around?

Or just use a handful of woodscrews. About 2" long should hold the damn thing down.

I don't think 3M 4010 is weatherproof.Lothurin wrote:try looking for some 3M 4010 Tape i've seen it hold up PCs to windows.
More than one place calls it "indoor" mounting tape.

Here is what you need to do, and I'm actually shocked that no one has thought of this.
Call it a Canadian Thing if you wish.
Use the wood screws of course, BUT install it on the Front windshield!
You may need the fat chick to hold it down, but DAMN would that be a neat look!
Just my .02, and you're welcome!

Re: Solarwing; best way to install?
I'll get a second one just for the windshield! I'll make her then lay across the roof, and I can paint her like one of my French girls!
