Re: Photoshop Request
So I did some research on the whole Hash Stripe issue, and it turns out they were originally used on Lemans race cars when the drivers actually had to run across the track to climb into their cars.
It was used to indicate to the drivers which side the steering wheel was on!
It was also used later to identify virtually identical cars entered by the same team so pit crews could tell them apart. 1, 2 0r 3.
GM used the styling in the 60's on some Prototype Buick Skylark and Corvette ideas, and they were production on C4, C5 and C6 Corvettes as an option on GS models.
Of late they have been used by Ford on some Mustangs, and Fiat/Chrysler on Challengers, Chargers, Darts and Ram Pick ups.
The current Chrysler SRT logo features Red Hash Marks.
So on my Beretta? We'll see how they look.
If I get them on right, and I will, it might be pretty neat.

Re: Photoshop Request
Stripes arrived today.
Unbelievable high-quality 3M product!! These Corvette guys don't mess around! (For $40 shipped to Canada??)
But not in a rush. Car is going to the paint shop in November to be cut, wet sanded and polished and we will have a look at this stripe thing.
I'm going to put the vinyl on and see how I like it. (I actually have enough to screw it up a couple times).
If the response is positive, it gets painted on in House of Color "Patriot Blue Pearl" and buried under a few coats of clear.
If not, it stays Virgin White.
More to come.

Re: Photoshop Request
OK this is going to be just a little more complicated than I imagined.
The damn fender has this silly sculptured thing before it gets to the wheel lip.
Tape is going to be a pain, and paint might be ALOT easier to make look right.

Re: Photoshop Request
Well "Plan B" hit me in the head this morning watching Powerblock. (Yes it was yet another repeat!)
Duplicolor spray wrap.
Anyone tried this stuff? The online reviews are somewhat mixed.

Re: Photoshop Request
It's basically the same thing as plastidip. The other thing you could have done was use one large strip of blue vinyl but put down the floss like cutting strips in a straight line over the flare and then cut the stripes in.

That would work.3X00-Modified wrote:It's basically the same thing as plastidip. The other thing you could have done was use one large strip of blue vinyl but put down the floss like cutting strips in a straight line over the flare and then cut the stripes in.
But I'm going to let the body shop worry about it.
Spoke with them on the weekend and they were pretty confident they could get it right after looking at a number of photos, and the specs/measurements Cliff posted.
As I said, going to be the tape I bought first and if it gets some acceptance then I will have them painted on when they refresh the car over the winter.
But I might try the spray stuff just for fun first. It's $15 a can up here and it will give me an idea of what it might look like.
