Can't figure these brakes out

When I come to a stop, brakes warm or cold, the right rear of my car has a tendency to squat.  The drums and shoes are brand new and so are the shocks.  For the life of me, I can't figure out what is going on.

Self adjusters are not adjusting to specs.  Go in reverse and kinda give it a hard/FIRM stop (20mph) .  Did you make sure all the linkage is hooked up?

Leaking wheel cylinders can cause grabbing too.

Linkage is hooked up properly and the wheel cylinders are tip top.  Also, it's kind of intermittent.

[hijack]  1988GTU (what's your real name?)  Also, I just got my car towed to the shop, and as I was driving it out of my driveway the driver's side rear was locking up on me, would this driving in reverse idea help that?  I don't mind tearing it apart, I actually have new shoes waiting, but just gotta find time to do it.[/hijack]

As for that self-adjusting garbage, it's kinda like an old Gateway computer, even if it works - it still sucks.

Mine does the same thing.  Seems to be worse when it is humid out until they've grabbed for a bit.  I have removed the rear drums, and sprayed them down good(brake cleaner) to get all the brake dust off the moving parts and that does seem to help for a while, but it does come back. I need to do the rear brakes and take everything apart and clean it properly.  I just gotta get time to do it.

It could help, then it may not...  I would look for a swelled whip hose or pinched lines.  Or even if the shoes are on right...  Sometimes people leave parts out of the replacement.

Was hydraulic fluid exposed to your rear shoes/drums?  If so this can be your problem probably.

I see a hijacking in progress.

I'm gonna check it out this weekend and check things like lines and abs wires.  I'll have an update on what I found on monday.

A Metering valve or porportioning valve can cause the rear brakes to catch too soon also.

I dont think this is the case.

If nothing else you can try replacing the hardware (springs).  This is to be replaced everytime shoes are but few do it.

Hardware is ONLY 10 dollars... Who wouldn't replace them?

Good news!  My rear brake line burst on me monday.  Yay for rust.  I drove a couple miles with the parking brake.  Maybe that was my problem.
