Strut and shock question

Want some new struts? What brand springs to buy? How much camber to run? What brake pads? What's the best setup for your situation....

Strut and shock question

Post by Asylum »

So I have these Eibach Pro springs sitting here along with the KYB struts and shocks,

But I'm really not all that excited about the KYB's.

Now given that this thing gets driven very little, except back and forth to the track, wouldn't regular Monroe's be just fine with the Eibach's?

Why aren't you "excited" with the KYB's?

Are these for the GT?

The KYB's will be stiffer than the Monroes, which should help with launches (less suspension movement = more power transfer).

Monroe with Eibach is the SUCK!  I did it when I first got mine... talk about always worrying about bottoming out...  and bouncy as all hell.

I like KYB. they're noticably stiffer than stockers but compliant enough for every day use. A very nice balance I say, although leaning a little toward the stiffer end.

Strut and shock question

I just replaced all the struts and shocks in my '90 with the Monroe Gas Matics.  Anyone looking for a good ride quality, I would highly recommend these.  After replacing my busted stockers, my car rides like a Cadillac.  However I wouldn't recommend them for performance use (street and strip) because the are somewhat soft and allow for body roll.  I bought the Monroes because I drive 100 miles a day on the interstate and needed a good ride.

Strut and shock question

Not to highjack Eric's thread but since he will probably have the same problem I guess I'll put it here.

I got my KYB's in the mail today and the struts don't have the tab to mount the sway bar endlinks.  So what exactly do I need to do here?  I heard something along the lines of using a endlink that bolts to the control arm?

So whats a fellow to do?

If you still want to use those struts, you have a few options..

You can switch your left and right knuckles so the calipers are in the front, use the 90-91 sway bar brackets that bolt through the 2 strut bolts and the corresponding end links.

You can switch to a conventional sway bar and use the end links that go through the control arm.
