Brake line size?
Brake line size?
I need to replace one a fitting an need to know two things:
What size are the factory brake lines? I assume 3/16"?
What is the specific size of the nut/fitting on the hard line where it connects to the brake hose (that goes to the caliper)?
Thanks!

Re: Brake line size?
My have to replace all brake lines on 96 base wondering if they are the same size front to rear. Are they standard or metric. Anybody know if anybody still has gm pre-bent lines.

Re: Brake line size?
All fittings are Metric bubble flare ends, the lines can be interchanged with 3/16 line though, I believe the diameter of the pipe is the same between the two but it's the threaded end that differs.
Re: Brake line size?
Aren't the fittings from the ABS for each wheel each different size to keep you from interchanging them?
I think you'll have to get a flare tool to re-use the fittings on your new lines from the ABS. Or
you may have to flare old lines from the ABS, and use a coupler to your new lines.
Some auto part stores sell short pieces of line with the correct ABS/Master fitting on one end and a standard
fitting on the other to attach to a coupler.
I don't know about GM lines being available. There is a guy on Ebay selling kits but I think they are just
a bunch of lines and fittings, enough to do a car but I think you'll still have to do some mix and match.

Re: Brake line size?
Yes the lines leaving the master, or ABS unit are all different to avoid mixup...
