I'm not selling these...

Damn you Weba, now you are sending doubts into my head. I always wanted adjustable dampening... tell me why I should keep the Bilstien's.

I used ACdelco mounts I believe.. I got everything on and she rides great! I went slow over railroad tracks and no noises at all! I wish i could say the same for the Cobalt haha. With the 225/50/16 Hankook Ventus RS3's, KYB's, Eibach's, Addco rear sway bar, MRZ shock tower brace and a front strut brace... The Z handles amazing!

On the highway in the Cobalt if you turn the steering wheel at all, its got alot of "boatiness" seems to float alot..

With the current setup on the Z26, there is none of that.. The handling is very direct.

I was doing all this hoping we would do some kind of autocross event at Bfest.. but who knows

Anyone ever get pics of the 88-94 upper mount? I bought the KYB/Eibach assembles in my car from "FlatBlackTerror" Mike and judging by the 95-96 pics and the old mount pics on rockatuo, etc...it looks like I have a 95-96 mount without the angled spacer. Driver side one is shot. Positively identified it as my steering creak when I unhooked the tie rods.

new:

And according to Jon's assembly pic here:

vs the pic of my strut I just pulled out:

it definitely looks like the angled spacer is missing, which I'm sure contributed to the early death of the mount. According to Mike, the springs & struts only had about 10k miles on them when I bought them.

So here's a question. Are the 95-96 mounts superior? If they are I should be able to buy a new pair and use them with my 91.

And another question. Would using a 95-96 mount give me more wheel gap than a 91 mount in a 91? The older mounts sure appear to be lower profile than the 95 stuff.

Not sure on the second questions but I like the design of the newer mounts, and that spacer is definitely missing and it looks like your insulator parts warped as bad as mine did... I actually grabbed the oem ones from my 96 and put them back in... Shitty part is I think Monroe is the only one who offers replacements on those insulators and if they warp that easy that's crap.

My local Napa doesn't have any of this stuff in stock, but I wonder if I can get them to order them in so I can compare.

I doubt the two mounts would change the height, but if they did that would be very odd.. The location of the strut mounting never changed car to car... I can only assume the differences were only due to improvements in the type of upper bearing used.

I did some more digging online and found that the spring cup and isolator are sold separately on the old ones and it looks like that is the difference in height I perceived. And the bearing surface on the newer ones is bigger so that has to be a good thing.

Rockauto some of it... Or use Advance Auto and use the Retailmenot for a good coupon... Just paid $74 after tax for a $109 hub for my legacy... $40 off over 100 online only coupon, BUT Picked up at the store since it's stocked, I know you don't have that option though since you live out in redneckville...

All on its way. Hopefully this will help the handling. I've always been a little underwhelmed with it.
