A/C   I'm afraid to ask

Post by capecodberetta »

I have replaced every component in the A/C system. It is cold, but not as cold as it should be.
Theee only thing I can think of is that the orifice tube may be partially plugged. It is part of the evaporator.
Where the heck is the evaporator, and can it be accessed without taking out the dash?
Or, does anyone have other ideas about what may be causing the system to not be cold enough?
Thanks,
Capecodberetta

Evaporator is under the dash and can be accessed by dropping the drip tray, or you can see if it is plugged up with trash by removing the blower motor housing on the engine side of the firewall.

that is quite a pain to get to.  It's tucked up behind a panel that separates that and the heater core.

I converted the AC in the 91 to R134... surprisingly enough though, the 92 quazar that I got for 300 bucks that was a week away from being crushed has the R12 connections and to my amazement blows colder air then when I converted the 91 to R134.
