jammed lock

Post by stevetweis »

somone tried to break into my car on the driver's side. The lock is now jammed so  now I have to unlock the passenger side, hit the power locks then go over to the driver's side.  Is there any way to replace the lock or take it out and fix it?

jammed lock

Yeah its actually pretty easy to take the lock out.

Open your door and you will see a plastic cover about halfway up on the door.  2 philips screws on the bottom and a 13-14mm nut on the top I believe.  Remove that and you'll have pretty good access to it.

Its easiest to remove the entire handle.  A couple more of those 13-14mm nuts and a screw at the top of the moulding for the window and it should wiggle out.  You'll also have to remove the clips on the linkages.  The one C clip needs to be slid away from the handle to get the handle linkage off.  The lock linkage just flips over off the rod.
