Thanks for your help, Rettax3 and ifixalot.

The camshaft bearings have not been replaced, because i didn't want to spend the money for the tool.
But now I wish I had done it.

Yesterday I performed a compression test on all six cylinders, and the readings were over 200 PSI
for all but a couple, which read around 180 PSI. Encouraging for me, at least the timing chain is correctly
installed, ha ha. I'm not even sure if this is an interference-type engine, but I assume so.

How many times or revolutions can an engine turn over with only assembly lube and no oil pressure?
that is, before the bearings are damaged?

By hand, you probably could never turn it over enough times to damage the bearings.
With the starter, you'd probably have top drain the battery.
Remember everyday, the engine gets turned over to start up after all the oil has drained.
Engines sometimes sit for months and then get cranked to start.
So you are probably worried about nothing.

^^^That. And also consider that the assembly lube is much thicker than regular oil, so it will actually stay there better than oil. And you are welcome, hey we all had to start somewhere, right?
