WANTED: Digital Dash cluster

Post by quad4berettagtz »

Looking for a good, fully functional, digital dash cluster.

I'm on my third unproven dash within a year. Show me you've got something nice, and we can deal.

Shipping would be to 54208.

PM me and lets make a deal!

I've got the one from my GT. It's a little flaky every once in a while (not very often) .. It'll probably be a while before I could go get it.

I have three Berettas with the digital dashes, so I can use all the extras I can get, BUT, I do have a few spares now, and for the right offer, I would be willing to test (and prove via pics, probably with my Yellow Indy) one and ship it out... But I wouldn't want to sell one for cheap, especially since they are getting so hard to find in working condition now. If you wanted to send back your other three clusters so I had spare parts or rebuildable clusters, that would bring my wanting-price down, but you would have to ship them back to me, so that may not be worth-while for you...

I don't have anymore extras - they all went to another member to play with...

Cliff - do you mean the one thats actually in the GT? Didn't know that one ever gave you issues...

Yeah, only every once in a while I'd get all sorts of weird parts of it lit up Basically unresponsive, chunks of the bar graphs lit up, etc...

That is frequently caused by connectivity issues to the displays (not saying that is the cause of your particular display issues...). Pulling the cluster apart, VERY carefully and cleaning the areas of the glass that contact the drivers with isopropyl alcohol and reassembling often seems to fix those problems -one of my spare clusters was doing the same thing until I cleaned it up. All of my spare clusters came from the dryer Western states, and don't really have much (or any) corrosion issues. I was planning on transplanting one (with all necessary wiring and ECM to drive it) into my '97 Z-24, but I don't have any time to do it and that plan is now YEARS old, and have even thought about putting one into my '86 Fiero GT (again, no time), but like I said, send me a decent offer if interested...

I suppose I could get off my butt and try cleaning the contacts on this one. It was from a yard car and has sat for quite a few years before putting it in my Indy. It worked great late last fall at first, but has been funky ever since it got cold out over the winter and has not "come back" to normal.

Stay tuned... I'll be sure to let you know.

Probably soldered joints. Common on some of the other clusters I repair.

The plasma-type clusters are the worst for solder-joint problems, not sure why. :unknown: The LCD displays in the Berettas don't seem to have chronic solder-joint issues that I have seen, but I am far from an expert or pro at rebuilding them, so that could be the issue...
