a 92 GTZ would be quicker but the 90 GTZ would be faster. gearing...the 92 GTZ needs the 90s 5th gear then youd have the best of both worlds.

I put a 3.1 in my 89 gt auto, from a corsica and it is really quick. Although i have the stock 2.8 tranny. i have beat my fair share of cars. Most impressively is my cousin's 92 mustang and a 2001 or a 2002 grand prix. i was very impressed. I have no mods to the car at all for now that would enhance horsepower but i hope to get some done soon. Right now my main interest is an exhaust (I don't know what kind to get) and new rims. But i am putting most of my money into my dirt track racing car right now. Its an 81 ford LTD with a 302. Should be fun. Did they make the 3.1 in the 89 beretta's?

And also the 2.8 should have the same TH125/3t40 as the 3.1.

ok cause it came out of a 92 corsica i think and it had 65xxx kms on it. thats not alot at all. It pulls really hard for an auto.

The 88-89 3 speed autos had 3.18 gears though (vs 2.84 for 3.1L's)...............they have to get into 3rd in the 1/4 and their top speed sucks, but they get a nice holeshot.

I was told early 3.1's had 3.18 and say 92+ had 2.84.  That might be wrong though as my 3.1 crossed the line in 2nd.

i don't do to well in racing cause i have all wheel spin and no traction. It really sucks racing all the cars with traction control! If i had some nice rubber then i think i could beat most of the cars around me. I would like to take my car to the strip some time to get a 1/4 mile time but i think the tranny might rip apart cause it goes to almost 6000 rmp and then shifts from frist to second. I guess i could always shift myself. Anyways i think the 3.1 rips pretty good and if not beter then all the other beretta motors. Thats just my opinion though.

I used to think that too, but after seeing some hp vs rpm and hp vs speed plots for a couple of Beretta Indy 3 speeds, I've concluded that ALL 3.1's got the 2.84's...........and as you said.............YOU crossed the line in 2nd (around 5200-5300rpm right?)

It's possible..........but not likely.

I think it more likely for you to run 16.4-16.6@83-84mph.

This would equate to a high 8 second or 9 flat 0-60 run.

And if you've been using a GTech, they aren't THAT accurate.

well im not going to argue with you, all cars are different, im just telling you what im doing, but i dont think any corsica will be to 60 in over 9 seconds, unless its the old ones with the 2.8 in them

Yeah Buls, about 52-5300.  And a Corsica 3100 CAN do 16.1 and 8ish to 60 from what I have seen.  But those are top running excellent examples.  A 16.4 and 8.3-4 to 60 is more common.  If your doing 0-60 in 9 with a 3100 car something is wrong hehe.

90 GTZ's run 15.5's consistently stock, i would imagine they are the quickest since after 91 chevy reduced the HP on the quads, then again, didnt they also regear them when they changed the HP numbers?
nonetheless the 90 GTZ was more than likely the fastest
