Well, progress has been a bit slower than I wanted, but it's moving...

The machine shop tore the bottom end down and confirmed that everything was ok and there was no real machine work needed. They did recommend replacing the main bearings, piston rings and doing a polish on the crank. I elected to have them do the work, reassemble, and they're going to clean everything up so it'll all look new again. They're also resurfacing my flywheel so my new clutch will have new surface to bite!

I'm discovering a few things that need attention in the engine bay before I put the engine back in, so it looks like it'll be a few weekends before I get it running, but progress is being made...

Machine shop called; the block is ready - It'll probably be Monday before I can pick it up.

The wife and I have been back here now for about 6 years. Seems like only yesterday that you guys visited and we were trying to get a top speed GPS'd run in my GTZ! :)

I sold my original Quasar GTZ in 2005 and just about a month ago bought a replacement 1993 Quasar GTZ from a member in Wisconsin.

Theres a tiny tiny tiny chance I may try to attend Bfest this year ;) I'll know more as it gets a little closer.

I wish I could go this year, but we're expecting our 2nd kiddo so I doubt I'll make it. It'd be nicer if it were closer, but Denver is 24 hours from me here.

About 24hrs for the wife and I too. We're gonna make the trek though, she has a sister just outside of Denver we will be visiting too.

I picked up the bottom end from the machine shop today - Can't wait to get it all assembled - I'm trying to tally up all the little odds and ends I need and it feels like it's going to nickel and dime me to death.

Finally had a change to take a thorough look at the engine - The machine shop charged $400 to do the work, but the bottom end was totally disassembled, cleaned, cylinders honed, new rings, new bearings, crank was polished and then reassembled and a new coat of paint. I felt it was a lot of money, considering there was no machine work needed, but it was soooo much faster paying someone else to do it.

I'll probably get the head bolted down this weekend, but the temperature and waiting for a few other parts is probably going to prevent much else.

New oil pump? Just in case. If it's not oil with these Quads then it's coolant.

Yup, new oil pump, new water pump - Reman'd head, head studs... This motor should be virtually bullet-proof.
