Relax Rodney. It was just a thought, LOL!

Going up to Mopar day at Cayuga.

And the Camaro V6 idea?

That is pretty much what Barry is doing and NOBODY wants to be like Barry!

I like Barry's build. But I do like an LS better. That slushbox is the only thing you need to fix! haha

The truck accessory drive may have hood clearance issues with a Beretta, you'd have to see...but a Camaro one should work fine. I know the used Camaro stuff is getting pricey thanks to all the swaps, but it must still be cheaper than March and the like.

Woody I am NOT putting a 6 speed in this car! Not for what I want to do with it.

But I am pumped. Spent the day at Cayuga's Mopar Day and man they are putting 6.2 Hemi Crate engines in everything!

65 to 67 Valiants, any A or E Body you can imagine.

Saw street driven Magnums and Challengers running in the 11's and high 10's thru the mufflers. And I mean dozens of them.

Fred Smith was there with a brand new build. A 2009 Challenger with a 438 Hemi running 8.90's he just finished last week.

And he was very clear on the fact all the accessories go on the front of the engine, AND that they can probably save the existing AC, "somehow".

Now I want this car done more than ever.

Fred is a retired school teacher and never gets very excited about stuff, but told me straight faced that at 3500 pounds it should run 11.70's thru the mufflers. No suspension issues at all with the 4-link once he gets it set up.

He was also saying that there are guys getting the ECU messed with, and seeing another 60-75 HP to be had from the LS-3 without compromising idle and drivability issues, but that may violate the GM Warranty. Uh DUH!!

Boy am I excited!!!

Started ordering parts today. Not totally happy, but it's started.

Everything from Summit today.

12 gallon plastic fuel cell. Wanted 16 but was told it won't fit.

GM Performance accessory drive.

Ordering the Moser 12 bolt tomorrow. Just want to triple check flange to flange width. And double think 4:10 or 4:30 gears. (Smith is suggesting 4:56's) 255-50-16 tires on the rear. 26.1" high.

Wheel Wizards is saying a 2" widening of the aluminum wheels is no problem BUT might need tubes! WTF!!

Engine/trans I am still conflicted with. Want the 525 HP LS-3 engine, but Smith is claiming $400 in tuning on the $1200 (CDN) cheaper 480 HP version will net more than 525.

Going to be heater delete, but it has to have A/C and defrost of some sort.

Ideas welcome folks!!

So this is going to be a drift car? Or is a 6sp in the works?

Street car with a once and a while trip down the drag strip.

And as much as I love you and Woody, it's going to be a 4L70e.

The 4L70e has a .7:1 overdrive.

About 3000 RPM at 70 MPH.

I have done my homework on this stuff over the last 35 years of racing.

Same as the old 700r4, that takes me back. Lots of numbers and checking FDR's. Still a bit high for me, but ok.

I would agree it does not need that much rear gear. I'm running 4.10 and your tires are shorter than mine and your overdrive isn't as deep. I'll bet I'm also running more cam. You will be losing fuel mileage and adding wear & tear without any real benefit. You don't need that much gear to get it down the strip either. I think 3.73 would be better suited to your build. My Camaro runs 2000rpm @ 80mph and doesn't cut the wind as well as a Beretta.

Put a Gear Vendors overdrive in it.

All of the Drag Week car's are running them - and they are making 1200+ hp.

No need for a gear vendors OD when you have a 0.7:1 final gear. The drag week guys are running 1:1 Lenco transmissions and the like.

I did a quick calculator and 3.73/0.7/26.1 is 2000rpm at 60mph.
