Okay, so here we go.

Story short, engine is pretty much ready to drop in.

Long story, ive been working on and off on it, trying to get the damn thing ready for my car. Im so close to getting ready to drop in, i can almost taste it. I got all the remaining parts cleaned up and installed, found my injector retaining clips, ronaconda was kind enough to mail me down an oil filter adapter and got that installed, upper intake and fuel rail have been clearanced for the pressure regualtor, upper intake has been fully painted as well, EGR adpater installed, exhaust manifolds, crossover pipe, TB to the intake, and a new PCV valve and gromment.

I essentially just need a coolant pipe from the timing cover to the back of the engine. I may just use the one that comes off the current motor. Only real things left to do is cut the front idler pulley mount off the timing cover (yeah i know, should have done that with it off the motor], prime it, and install the water pipe from the lower intake manifold to the rear head. I also need to drill and tap the last hole in the intake manifold for the third TB stud. Outside of those minor things, im ready to get the beast installed.

Im sooooo happy to be at this point. I got lucky and the vehicle ahead of mine for a motor swap i was able to have a friend take care of for me. So! Shes in the crosshairs to get the motor installed :Yahoo!:

So not a bunch going on as of late. As posted earlier, i have the motor mostly ready to go in the car. I was at the yard the other day and had a check list of finalized parts to get this engine ready.

Timing cover to heater core pipe, Check
Intake manifold to heater, still need
3500 coil bracket, check
L-/ N-body fuel lines from rail to body, still need
3500 map sensor hold down (misplaced mine), check
L-/N-body engine mount, check
3100 non-digital EGR tube, check
Cruise control cable from a 3.5 DOHC Intrigue, check.
Purge valve mount bracket, check
Malibu 3500 engine cover, check....screw it why not, never know. Might do something cool with it.

I have a new 3.5 DOHC idle valve on the way, a new purge valve, some exhaust couplers to finish my exhaust up finally, and im thinking about going back and getting the alternator bracket from the Corsica i took the engine mount, heater pipe and EGR tube off of. By a week from this weekend, this engine will be a stripped accessory, ready to drop in engine.

I'll have pics for everyone here in a couple days. Stay tuned :sparta:

Nice looking engine. So you didn't want to swap throttle shafts?

He has a completely different throttle body that fits the 3500 upper intake.

Correct. As stated earlier in the thread, i have an adapter plate welded to the 3500 manifold that accepts the 3.5 DOHC throttle body. I was going for stock appearance. The stock Beretta accelerator cable appears to work with the tb, but the cruise cable hss a different attachment. I just hope the intrigue cable is long enough, i havent test fitted it yet in the engine bay. Its one of the things i need to double check.

So for rpo sake, its an LA1, LX5, LX9, L82 hybrid lol. Not sure how you would RPO classify that mixture with just 3 digits lol

Slowly but surely im getting there. I went to the yard and picked up some more misc stuff to make this as straight forward of a swap as possible. I picked up the timing cover engine mount, alternator brackets with engine mount support bracket, 95 3100 bypass pipe (which now i may switch to the A-body style after seeing Geoff Morrows setup), and the fuel lines from the same donor 95 Corsy. I do somehow, keep forgetting to get a spare belt tentioner bolt so i can get the new tentioner installed. Im sure i have a bolt in my collection that will equally work for this purpose.

I also, officially, have all new engine electronics for the engine as well. So both crank, cam, coils, ign mod, IAC, TPS, MAP, O2 sensor, OPSU, EGR valve, purge valve and injectors and pressure regulator. Along with the new fuel pump, i should be set to go for a long time.

Last weekend i was able to make a little progress on the engine. Got the 3500 coil bracket drilled for the 3100 coils and mod and got the bracket remounted to the engine. I also got new plugs, and i'll have new wires for it as well. I also got the O2 sensor, EGR valve and EGR tube installed. Im just waitin for the day this beast goes in....

These pics dont show the coils, ign mod, map, tps being installed, but by the end of the weekend, all will be installed, and this beast should be ready to go. Now, to get the time to swap it. I think i can do it in a day... :D

I have the heat sheild for the front manifold, juat wasnt gonna secure it till its ready to drop in. The rear sheilds are loose still too. I didnt see any point in paintijg the manifolds if they are just gonna be covered up.

Ceramic coating them would serve as not only aesthetics but functional to keep heat inside the manifolds not in the engine compartment.
