Re: Project Second Chance - Full Update PG 16

Not too much progress over the weekend. Little bit of family stuff going on and stuff. You know how life goes.

Anyways, i was able to get the vacuum port in the intake manifold next to the TB tapped and fitted for the purge valve source. I got the new coils, ICM, purge valve and MAP sensor all mounted. Installed the brake booster vacuum supply nipple, and was about to re-loom the injector harness when the rains started. I hate not having a full on garage :-(

I do still need to get the MAP connector switched over. I was going to just use a p&p connector to make things simple, but i have enough of the 3500 lead and the 3x00 lead to make one solid connection. Once said and done, it will look just like factory. I am hoping with all the effort, this will look as factory under the hood as it can. I know some things wil not look stock, but for the most part, thats my goal.

So not much going on, yet again. However, i did get the injector wiring harness re-loomed, the MAP connector soldered in, and the CTS connector 90% installed. Seeing as how i have to use the 3500 sensor and its a 3wire not the stock 2wire, the 3rd wire will receive a weather-tite connector to plug into the stock gauge wire on the firewall side. This way, everything has that stock appearance :-)

More on the way.

Pic of the nearly completed injector harness. I now have a weathpack connector on the gauge signal wire from the CTS.

I am going to be re-looming the CPS harness to the coil pack and getting that attached as well. Dont think theres much of anything left to do but install :-D

I need to make my way back to the yard and grab a heater bypass pipe from an A-body. This long as factory pipe is gonna piss me off. Thanks HeavyWoody and 3400modified for the idea :-D Its really gonna help tidy up the front of the engine. Not to mention make that front valve cover more easily accessible if i need.

Have a small box of parts for the car and a couple other parts for it as well. Im beginning the final prep...

Thats why i cant find them on the vans, all the ones here are 97-01. They all have the same pipe as our cars. Ill grab the A-body one. It looks identical to the ones you guys have; theres several of them out here.

So, once again, i put a percentage value on the completion of the engine. I now i have all parts, but one. I was at the yard and picked up a heater to water pump pipe from an 89 V6 Corsica, and that was not so fun to do let me tell you lol. Once i figured out how the hell the damn thing came out, not too bad. I also pickup the A-body heater tree, which as mentioned, is the same as the 2nd gen Venture/Montana vans. Lastly, pick up the fuel rail support bracket that bolts to the rear head. I can finally get the engine 100% to drop in. Im excited. However, my head gasket "repair" has failed, so time to get the swap done.

Injection harness installed

Intake Manifold back on

Vacuum line routing off the TB. The one hanging out is for the vacuum line that used to go to the trans.

Image

T-stat and housing installed, and tapped the threads for heater fitting.

Crank position sensor wired in

Image

Removed the heater tree for the A-body style, that will be installed tonight most likely.

Image

Got the belt tentioner installed finally. Was able to find the right length bolt to mount it.

Its go time! IT...IS...GO....TIME! Woo hoo!! :Yahoo!:

Thats cause pretty much everything on it is new lol. Obviously the engine is rebuilt, but i dont like dirty engine parts. If my hands touch it, it will be clean and painted.
