Re: Tylers (aka Slinkys) Build
Progress from last night
PTFE Rear main seal.
Crank and scraper installed
Installing Piston Pins and Spirolox
Pistons assembled.
Measuring the bores... Every one was within .0005 3.642 or 3.6415
Cam bearing install... I hate hammering them in, Just seems so rough on the bearings but that's how you do it.
Two holes on the front bearing like stock had.
Set in like stock to prevent any oiling issues to the timing set.
Also checked the alignment of the oil holes on the thrust plate to ensure they would flow oil well enough.
More to come after tonight... Rings were all fitted on the pistons and all gapped properly so I hope to be installing the pistons in the block tonight, then I can verify the clearance necessary on the crank scraper to the rods and torque that all down and then get a cam in it and go from there.

Few pics from last night... Not much of pistons going in because it's a very oily job...
Timing set and cam in.
Purdy
Swapping lifter springs
For those who don't know the difference, Stock on right, LS ones on left.

BAM now were getting somewhere!
How much wiggle room do the pistons have?

Re: Tylers (aka Slinkys) Build
I measured the bores betwee 3.6415 to 3.6425 roughly... and the piston that I measured was 3.638... so that is .004 to .0045 clearance just as requested by diamond .0035 at a min if my caliper setting was 100% accurate. So wiggle room is a bad question, they wiggle yes but you wont know what it will sound like till it's started.
I didn't have a micrometer to set the bore gauge, only a set of calipers... I can get close with that but I don't trust it to a .0005 value.

Re: Tylers (aka Slinkys) Build
it was still tacky this AM... It got cold last night even though I put it next to the stove and left that going so not ideal conditions to dry quick.
Taking tonight to help out Amy looking over her car for suspension rattles at her dad's house so I wont have any updates tomorrow. I hope to close the bottom end and timing cover on Friday if not get the heads on by then too. Should be closed up completely by Sat... Then onto cleaning the garbage out of the transmission.

Yeah LS6 lifter springs fit our lifters and provide more support for radical cams and heavy springs.
WOT-Tech used to sell them but I don't see the listing anymore.
When I did mine I actually bought a set of LS6 lifters from ebay and pulled them apart.

Re: Tylers (aka Slinkys) Build
I am recalling that I used LT1 lifters for my last batch.
