My car will never see that many RPM's lol, I'm keeping mine at the factory shift specs! The aluminum bearings will be more than sufficient... They all clearanced out good too! Whew!

My point was, aluminum backed bearings are not as good as copper backed.
I was illustrating this with my experience.
Your signature shows a 3400, bored oversize with a cam and headers.
You scuffed bearings already so I was suggesting you go with better bearings
to avoid a repeat of scuffing the bearings.
And if I'm not mistaken, the stock factory bearings are copper backed.

That's why I went with factory bearings... But also there are barely any aftermarket options available for the 3500

I can't imagine that I'll run into any problems running the aluminum bearings that I put in it. Thankfully the aluminum caught all of the shavings instead of letting it dig into the crank, that's enough of a reason for me to use aluminum again. The only reason I had issues was due to the person that put my engine together. He never went through the engine after the oil pump drive's gear shredded itself. If he did... I never would be doing this in the first place.

Very important lesson - don't trust someone's mechanical abilities until you see them at work and how their work holds up!

Can you get the tri metal? Those things were great back in the day. Never trusted aluminum only, just put too much fear in me.

I'd considered running the tri-metal bearings as we offered them at my work, but they were all mismatched brands sold in singles, and I didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to get them all matching.

These are the ones I went with, they were a very reasonable price too.

I finally got my control arms cleaned up and coated with POR-15, and they are looking good! Subframes are next to get refinished!

Those came out nice. What bushings did you go with?

I never put two and two together that you were the one i was sending the frames too lol. Nice work man! I like how those control arms turned out, very nice!

Yep, that's me man! Subframes are next to get done, I still haven't even washed them off yet lol.

And the control arms are just Dorman arms with standard rubber bushings, the kid that owned my car before me was jacking it up by the control arms so they were both split, cracked and bent. I changed them about two years ago, but unfortunately lost the photo of the old ones, they were awful!

Wow, just can't see how someone would think that is a good place to jack a car.

you should replace those cheezy OEM rear bushings with the new MOOG ones...

looks like a tougher bushing than original

Or just do this like i did and make a delrin top and bottom washer to take up the space..

I really like the construction of those MOOG bushings, might as well, they're already off the car... $21 a piece is affordable too.

Honestly these aren't a bad deal either at $50 shipped.
