Corsica z22

All right gentlemen I think I have decided what the first evolution of my 1996 Corsica is going to be. I have decided to stick with the 2.2 OHV as these motors have been forgotten or ditched in favour of a "more capable" one. Here is the plan so far:

98+ head with port and polish.
98+ piston swap

Here's the thread as to why.
http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f ... 450236&p=3

1.6 comp can ultra gold rocker arms
56mm throttle body
+1mm o/a valves (still looking for these)
3/8" ARP head studs
Pacesetter exhaust manifold with probably a custom cat back

Here are the specs for the cam regrind that I want:
(Int/Exh)
Duration @ .050" : 206*/206*
Lobe Seperation Angle: 112*
Lobe lift: .313"/.313"
Lift @ valve: .501"/.501"

I also plan on updating the suspension but that will probably be the basic KYB struck and shocks I have a set of eibach that I'm gonna snag from heavywoody here in about a week and replace the bushing with a set from energy and eventually convert to all wheel disc brakes.

Any suggestions or advice is always welcomed and appreciated.

What is the goal of this car? I find it hard to not 3400 swap things as the motors are so easy to come by make good power and are reliable.

It's goal is just to be a fun, reliable sleeper. I would love to do a 3500 turbo build but as of now I don't have the time or space. Also there's the idea that since I'm using a newer head I could run the GM supercharger with low boost but that's a thought from later. I also wanted too be a little different.

That's gonna be a fun project man. Not a lot of people build the 2.2's, can't wait to see the progress on it!

Okay so after spending the last month or so digging I can't come up with a straight answer as to whether the 98+ head will actually and function (with the exception of the flow of coolant) fit in a pre 97 block. Can someone help me out?

You could possibly compare head gaskets at the local auto parts store, that should help a lot!

Life is getting in the way but I've been able to stock a few parts. I have the valve springs and the 1.6 rr. I promise I haven't given up.

So tiny update. Finally had the time to get the head out so I can get it cleaned and checked over. I want to port it my self but am nervous that I might botch it. I've watched a few YouTube videos and it looks more time consuming than difficult so well see.
