It holds in some heat into the header itself to keep flow up, and it also insulates the heat away from the engine bay to keep under hood temps down, and it also provides a corrosion barrier over the item... Granted if its stainless then the last item isn't as critical.
I thought yours were already coated by Milzy... or did he not do that?
Yeah milzy had them ceramic coated for me.But i remember him saying that the guy who was doing it for him stopped. And he had the dude that worked for him coat them. There is a few spots i could be happier with.So when im rebuilding my engine i might redo them.

That's how the coolant hose/pipe goes on a 87-91. You might even be able to use that pipe if you got a new one.3X00-Modified wrote:Its the visual deal and the fact that the hose for that line was touching the header with the way it was installed, so hopefully with me running my own line I can position it better so it wont be near it.

Re: 1996 Mr.Pink
Interesting... I'm going to have to figure that out.
Awesome!! I found the two hoses that I would need... so that will lessen the fear I had of having to curve a non molded hose... now its just a matter of finding that pipe somewhere that will go back to the heater core.
Anyone have a heater core pipe from a 87-90 beretta?

Re: 1996 Mr.Pink
Ok... now look at this photo... Where does the other metal line go that comes from that stalk? there is still one that goes under the valve cover, not as ugly as the 3x00 version but it seems that both are there.
Can anyone get me some other images of how the pipe ends near the heater core and what hose is used there... I found an engine to pipe2 hose which looks like the one visible above, and then there is a pipe2 to heater which is a large U shaped hose... so I was confused on how the pipe ended near the core.

I think a minivan of sorts... double check with Brendon, he got it from the yard one time and just passed it off to me.
Ordered the two needed hoses from RockAuto... Thats the only thing that will delay me now... But I doubt I'll have my headers coated this weekend... Will and Lisa are coming down.

Because I like my engine to be complete look wise and it's not a bad thing to have for mileage.
Sometimes I enable it and sometimes I disable it... It's not going to hurt anything. However I do want to install a catch can this year and re-route my breather lines to prevent oil going in the engine that way.

Finally, progress...
It's amazing how well the welder works when the polarity is set right...

Is that tig or mig? I never heard of reversing polarity on a mig.
I had to make custom heater core pipes for my headers too. For the one the comes out of the t-stat housing I used a 3500 malibu one, cut the bracket off and flipped it 180 degress and welded it back on. That worked well.
Then for the front one, I cut it after the valve cover and ran hose from there to the core to avoid the heat.
