my nuked steering bellows. (nuked from the massive heat output of the headers)

That melted bellows looks better than the one that came off my car... Mine melted right in the middle (with the bushings).

Might need to have those headers ceramic coated inside and out, would encourage the heat to go through rather than out.

update, since the big rebuild i have had 2 oil leeks. 1) was the seal at the drive shaft, (repaired) it was 21 yrs old., 2) was a bolt on the oil pan, not tight enough.

awaiting my custom chip in the mail, from racin17(due to arrive middle of next week)

then off to the dyno...

ps: 1st 300 miles are in the books, oil change is done.. next oil change is at 900 miles..that one will be my favorite oil, mobil 1, 5w30

Update, this past Thurs i received Racing17 personally modified chip. I am scheduled for a dyno run mon late afternoon.

Did a highway run this weekend, i am having issues with my idle ling. Especially high at 2500 (or 2700 with a/c on). this is while driving and pushing in the clutch and coasting.

Also when i get to a stop light, if the a/c is on i will shortly after stall. Spoke with Racin17, he believes it is my TB that lets by to much air at idle. I am running a 62 mm TB. the TB has a small OEM hole in the butterfly, good for the vehicle it came from, but not so good for mine.

Also noticed that my reservoir of coolant is low... Oooohh crap. I will also get them to look into that on Monday.

my wife has been driving the car to and from work (10 miles a day) to put on all kinds of city(clutch) miles. I need to do 1200 miles on the engine and 300 city (lots of clutching) before i race the car at Bfest NE New Hampshire (Sept 30th). i am currently at a total of 450 miles, i will be driving the car to bfest ne(500 miles) so i still need to do 250 miles.

the free flowing exhaust is much loader then i am used to. It growls incredibly loud from 3000 and up..

on the trivial BS side of life, i got a flat that was repairable, i do not drive tires on this car with plugs in them. I drive to fast and with the heat build up it scares me(tire failure of any kind). my current tires are 2 years old with less then 800 miles on them. they are so still new (great grammar) that they have those little rubber spikes. The model in question(Dunlop 225 50 ZR 16 SP SPORT MAXX) is no longer made for my size. I looked everywhere. So i now needed to buy 2 new tires. I purchased from the tire rack with the help of little Jon(AKA MR. PINK), these 2 Dunlop Direzza SPORT Z1 STAR SPEC

so the expenses go on and on.. hopefully not to much more..

all for now.. Pauly

Try plugging the hole and doing an idle relearn before buying a new TB. You should be able to have that welded up for cheap if it helps.

Great thread, as a lot of others have said - it is nice to hear more about this car.

Nicly done, where did you get the headers? Did you do the exhaust or have it done?

headers are from Ron S. on quadforums(they cost me $520 canadian), i did none(or next to nuttin) of the above mentioned work. i was the go for.. i shopped for almost all the parts. the local speed shop did it all. they have never worked on a Quad before mine.

I bet they loved it. I would get little done with all those rocketparts item lying around. Keep needing new underwear.

Hahahaah, I'm with Chad, when I have sweet parts around that aren't installed - I tend to molest them quite a bit.
