Its as awsome as it is suckish. If ur school is like mine was, after the students learn what they can off it, it HAS to get scrapped per donations rules. No mater how much someone offers for it...

Yea that is how my college was too. in my shop we had an 84 cutlass with 89 miles on it. It got scrapped along with an 89 grand am with 97 miles on it and others including an 87 s10 after i graduated because a bunch of newer cars got donated. they have stickers on them stating they are for educational purposes only and have to be scrapped when not needed anymore...broke my heart

My highschool also had 2 berettas with less then a 100 miles on them both. In the shop they had half of a Beretta as a wall hanging too.

wow thats super sucky would be very ideal to become friends with someone at the scrap yard they goto
Re: this is awesome!
just ask which yard its going to and see if you can purchase the car as "parts only" the vehicle will still have a title, just make sure you can get it so you can have a "reconstructed" title registered.

Re: this is awesome!
sometimes it's given to a school due to it not being road worthy so he may not be able to get the title or the school has to truly dispose/crush the vehicle upon release of it, OR they have to simply keep it. Just realized three others said that so I don't know why keiffith think's he can still get a title to register it. The vin would come up void even if he did. Unfortunately its only good for parts, or a vin swap.

ask to see the title. it still should have one. im just saying that its possible to get a car from the junkyard and put it back on the road,or in this case on the road for the first time.

Per a contract that the school signed they can not just release it to the JY, they have to get it crushed, PERIOD. the car was given to them they have obligations to ensure that it does not end up on the road after the students have torn into it 100+ times. GET IT?

Calm down with the caps lock, damn! I have bought multiple parts from multiple GM cars that had previously been donated to schools and ended up in yards, and at more than one yard, so your logic is flawed! When it comes down to it, at the end of the day, it's all about making money! A yard owner isn't going to crush an essentially brand new car unless whoever brings it to them sits there and physically watches them do it! ...............period...............
