Hi guys. Been a member of V6Z24 for a few years now, but now I got a winter beater 95 Beretta Z26 so i figured I'd join some fellow berettas here.
Little about myself and my car
Name's Josh, and I'm from central MN. I'm 23 years old and have been working on cars my whole life it seems. I'm in the middle to lower class so I'm broke most of the time.
Now the car. I bought it not running for $350. What I did to it: Timing chain, fuel pump, fuel line in the tank, patch rusted line, used injectors off WOT-TECH bosch double platinum plugs and wires (will be swapping in the iridium outta my cavalier soon). Runs great now besides a few issues. But the car has over 300K miles on it.

Now my other cars:
92 Cavalier Z24 bought for $500. Had it for 5 years, estimated 300K+ miles on it. Actual mileage unknown. Spun main bearing and is in my shed awaiting a 3500 swap.
89 Dodge D350 Cummins turbo diesel. Transmission just rebuilt and waiting on more parts and money to finish her up.

92 Cavalier Z24, Estimated 300K+ miles bad motor. Awaiting 3500 swap.
89 Dode D350 Cummins Turbo Diesel, 370,000 miles.

Welcome to the site. You should run only AC plugs, others end up making problems.

He said he's swapping in Iridums soon, that's fine. Its really only the Bosch fancy tipped plugs that cause issues... not just a regular double platinum.

Yup I never use the fancy double or quadruple ground tip plugs. Impossible to gap efficiently. Besides Iridiums are supposed to be 100Kmile plugs. I've only used them for about 10 to 15K. Expensive plugs they are. And here's some pics of my winter beater. (No offense)

Welcome to the site! Check us out on FB too under the "Chevy Beretta Owners Group".

I use Splitfire plugs and have never had issues. They sponsored me for two years so I have a stockpile of the damn things.

I had a few questions about my car though. The Torque converter will lock in normally when i first start driving then randomly will unlock and stay that way for a while. Sometimes after a few stops it'll work fine again. And 1st to 2nd shift is pretty hard. Would that be the Transmission Control Solenoid?

It could be issues with the valve body or low trans pressure as well... The control solenoids in the 4t60e don't tend to crap out as much as in the 3t40 but the valve body can get all gummed up, or stuck from any foreign material in the fluid... A lot of the valves have a tendency to get stuck in the bores and I know I had one trans where it would shift 1-2 extremely hard and that was due to the vac modulator valve being jammed in the trans as well as the 1-2 shift valve sticking. This all came from the center pin in the diff breaking free and scraping around the outer case and spreading aluminum through the trans... The age of one tire burnouts... LOL

How would I go about troubleshooting that? I can't afford to throw money at the car because I "think" that's the problem.

Looks like the red Z isn't in too bad of shape. Is it strictly your winter beater or do you have any plans for it?

As for the moment it's not necessarily my winter beater since it's my only operational vehicle, but my real project is my 92 Z24 in my storage shed. Saving up money to 3500 swap it. Plans for the beretta are just to fix it up with the time and funds available for a reliable daily driver. I got too many "projects" to really plan anything with this car. Maybe minor mods like my 17's, silverstar ultra bulbs, maybe some LED accents/dash lights. I hate how I have to turn my dome light on every time I wanna change my heater setting.

More pics including the infamous messed up front ground effects.
The 3000gt is my girlfriend's car. Just an SL, no turbo or awd.
The filler neck rusted the cap threads off bad, but i was still able to press and tap it back together so rain and snow don't get in there.

That's quite the milestone you hit there..... 300,000 miles, wow! I was hoping my old Base would hit that, but I think it made it to 293,xxx before it died.
