you can find some electric fans for cheap on kijiji at times (i have a few actually), and just scouring the wrecking yards for stock ones of the right shape and size you need. some on ebay even.
4th one's a charm, 5th one is, beginnning to sound like this is an addiction...

A 22 year old fan got me into this problem, so there is no way I'm thinking of trusting another used one.

You could get a universal Hayden one... they are the fans recommended for replacement on Rock Auto... not sure how the plug would work though.

The place that fixed the car up near Rose's cottage quoted $185 for a replacement fan. Thankfully they couldn't get one in time for us to return home.
