Leaving for MI in 7 hrs

Post by heavywoody »

Well, the wife, dogs and I are leaving in 7 hrs to drive 700+ miles to the Lansing, MI area for the weekend...

Saturday morning I'll be starting on the OBDII conversion... I sure as hell hope this resolves the problem I've been having for almost 2 years... I think I will cry if it doesn't work... hell, I'll cry if it DOES work.

I will update everyone on my progress when I get back on the computer.

Some of you may receive a phone call from me regarding my joy/sorrow of what the outcome is...

Jon, keep your phone handy this weekend

Good luck, hopefully the results turn out the way you want them to.  Looking forward to hear good news next week when you get back

All I have to say is OBDII FTMFW!!!!

The car runs beautifully (considering the PCM is looking for an 4T60E)... we let it run through several cooling cycles, turned it off and restarted it several times when hot, and it ran absolutely wonderfully each and every time!

I don't care if my LSD isn't it, or if my tranny is still leaking, or if my AC doesn't work, or if the car doesn't go back to the paint shop, or if there are wires sitting in my interior unorganized...

I don't even care if my car isn't washed (it IS under a car cover and was washed before I put the cover on)...

MY CAR WILL BE AT BERETTAFEST FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2001!!!

This is only the second BFest my Z26 has been at.

I am stoked

so what exactly was the problem?  Was it the Cam Position Sensor?

EDIT:  Did you change the interior harness, engine harness, master cyl ?  Did you do like Jon and just modify the interior and leave the master alone?

The only sensor that was changed was the knock sensor, and that was only changed because it has a different plug on 96's. I had put a new knock sensor on before which didn't solve any problems.

We only did the engine harness right now, and it wasn't modified much at all (one pin was pulled out of the driver-side body connector for the tach signal). I'll be on the lookout for a 96 Z26 dash harness, 96 glovebox, and 96 master cylinder so I can complete the swap the correct way.

Right now I'm just happy that it runs and doesn't misfire... I can do the rest of the swap at my leisure now!

Hell yea! As soon as I put the car down for next winter (probably in Sept or so), I'm yanking that trans out and having it gone through by Jeff @ EP; he can put the race LSD I bought from him in it while he's at it

Awesome news, glad to hear it went that smoothly; it seems that most things mechanical rarely go right the first time. ÂÂÂ

2001 was the last BFest for the Zed?  Wow, I feel old...  I had forgotten you had the duct tape special ( ) at Memphis in '02, which was the last time I attended.  Man, that's been 5 years already ÂÂÂ

Yeah, it has been a LONG *** time...

The duct tape special... lol... I should've kept that car to be a donor for my 5spd swap... oh well.
