Why does that suprise you? ÂÂÂ Mustang dynos usually read a little lower than a dynojet.  Do you have a chart to post so that we can give some type of suggestions?

Your car was factory rated 140 HP and 180 Ft-lbs.  You have an auto tranny.

Pauls 2.8L Turbo 5-Speed only made about 155 WHP with 6 PSI. ÂÂÂ

I don't have any 3.1L dynos.  But it doesn't really suprise me if you have not done any head or cam work.  I'm not too sure what they should run, but Mustangs generally would read less than what we dynoed on a BFest.

I think Aaron Choate had a dyno of his 3.1 5spd with I think just chip or just intake and it made something like 120whp and 177tq.

A bone stock 3.1 auto should put down about 105-110whp on a Mustang dyno.

The whp may not be that suspect on this dyno but the tq sure is.  Bone stock it should be 150 at the very least with 165-170 being more likely.

I have had a few dyno by now and this looked like they had no idea what they were doing.

were talking a 3.1L correct?  not a 3100?  A 3.1 on a mustang usually doesnt barely make it to 100 hp with an auto.

I would not trust that dyno reading at all.  Seems as if they had no idea how to dyno a FWD auto.

Wow, .040 overbore... that's a ******* lot.  Then no supporting mods... did it occur to you to do a cam, some headwork, porting the craptastic intake manifolds maybe...?  .040 over is a lot man...

well the idiot who rebuilt the block last didnt check check piston clearance and well  when i put it in it lasted for a little bit then the skirt on one busted off while it was running and then i parked it and pulled the engine and to bring it back within spec .040 was the closest i could do but fear not at this point the pistons have about .0015 between the walls and pistons so no slap now and she still runs like a champ! starts on those below zero days no problem! i have two 3.1's on the side those are going to be the crazy mod engines im going to crank HP out of those two.

If you want much HP out of them you will have to make a new intake manifold for them.  The factory one is too small.  The other option is to win the Extrude Hone manifold treatment at BFest or pay them to do a factory manifold.

Norm had this done and I can't remember how much HP he gained, but it was significant.
