No head liner will be just straight metal with some reinforcements on top of your car, you think its loud now when it rains, you'll be run out of your car when it pours. It acts as a insulator of noise and a beauty item, so knowing that my suggestion is to remove it and get some new material and some fabric adhesive and re-apply it to the headliner support and fix the issue rather than just rip it out.

Re: HAS ANY BODY ELSE DONE THIS WITH THIER BERETTA???
I had mine redone and it cost me something like $150. It's better to have it done by a shop so you don't have to fight with it all the time. The cloth was off my 83 Z28 and every time the windows were down the pad would flake. It gets everywhere in the car, your eyes and your hair. Also on my 67 Camaro project I took it all out for derusting. When it would rain it sounded like someone was hitting the roof with a hammer. That was when it was just sitting in the driveway. It didn't take me long to get it back inside when it started raining.

Im gonna re-do mine in some rediculus fabric, along with the rear deck. VW style...
Re: HAS ANY BODY ELSE DONE THIS WITH THIER BERETTA???
I had redone mine with vinyl, it would have come out great if the adhesive i was told "would work great for that, I guarantee it wont come off" had actually worked. Ended up sewing it up in a few spots so it didn't sag, I need to make a new shell out of fiberglass when I have the cash and time again and redo it with high grade interior automotive adhesive.
Provided you can get the right adhesive, redoing the fabric component isn't that difficult, unfortunately the shell seems to be very brittle in like 90% of our cars these days. If that's flaking, it may be easier and cheaper for you to have a shop make a new one, it really depends on your resources and willingness to research though.
On a side note, once I get the rest of bnet back up, I will have links to various suppliers for all kinds of products, including fabrics, fiberglass, adhesive, paint, pretty much everything anyone would need for our cars. Complete with a member rating and a black list for bad companies to deal with.

I've had mine out for a while and it's definitely noisy. I'll put one back in when I get another one, the original one was nasty.

Barry you have to be kidding.. Or you've lost your mind!
I re did mine for about $50 myself. GM Super trim adhesive I think it was, 2 cans. Fabric from an online store. I forget the name of the color but it matched 100%.
Take your time removing it and peeling the fabric off and all that jazz. Going slow is the key so you don't damage it.

Good call on that website. Hows your rubber strip that covers the screws? Mine keeps falling out on the corners...
