Tunnel done! This is huge. So much fab. Dash back in. Only headlights ignition and gauges hooked back up. Gutted everything else. It looks like you actually could keep hvac with this swap.

Is that an old 70s-80s GM distribution block? Clutch master looks familiar too! haha

Think I finally figured it out.

Need another alternator bracket and a way to tension it. Have 2 potential belt routines. The one you see offers TONS of grip on every Pully. The other way uses a short belt and much less grip but might be easier to tension.

Is that the correct rotation on everything? I don't know which way the rwd water pump spins. Small detail but very important...

Simple way to answer that question is what style pulley is on it, ribbed or smooth... IIRC RWD water pump pulleys are smooth. And his picture above that shows it's a smooth pulley.

no need to reinvent the wheel on the belt routing. see Dave's last post.

Duh. Good call. I didn't think of that. I just know that even with a SBC some water pumps spin the traditonal way (my Camaro and TBI truck) but some spin the opposite (LT1 Camaros and Vortec trucks).

Looks like Dave uses the turnbuckle on the Alternator to tighten his belt and the other two are stationary idlers.

Good call woody. For the v6s the difference is serpentine vs non serpentine. Vbelts spin backwards.

I don't have as much room as Dave to swing the alternator on a turnbuckle. It will hit my ps pump( mounted higher than his).

I think a trip to the junkyard to find a 2.4 twin cam tensioner and a idler Pully would be all I need to finish this off.

Alternate routing. Will need shorter belt but has more room for tensioner. Do you think anything will slip?

Nah, nothing will slip. Tons of contact area even on the alternator.

Everything looks sweet man, good job! Can't wait to see it done!

Is that enough contact area on the dampner? That's the only thing I'd be iffy about... Dave seems to have about 1/2 contact when you're at 1/3? He just has that additional idler on the driver's side that seems to give a lot more surface area on the dampner.
