Replacement GTZ/Z26 foglight options

Post by heavywoody »

So the dreaded day has come; a rock has broken one of my replacement fog lights.

Back in the day, Blazer made a set that was identical to our cars. I don't think these are still made though.

Does anybody know if any other cars have the same fog light lens? Or is there a place that can repair these?

The lenses are glass, if I recall correctly. However they are easy to repair, if you can find a replacement glass. I pulled apart 2 sets to rebuild mine when the deer hit happened on the Z. They are only held together with high temp black silicone. Heck I would rebuild it for you if you like, and you can use a lens from EITHER side! The glass is universal, just has to be flipped the right way for the passenger or driver's bezel. So, if anyone has a lens for it, I can rebuild your light, or you can. :P

If I know Woody, he will want them to look exact as stock. I was doing a search a bit ago, then my other laptop battery died. Had to go to the netbook. LOL Give me a few.

But alas, no direct finds on fog lights. Sucks. Let me keep looking.

They don't look to have the angled lens like the stock ones do, and they replicate the wront PN from GM.

How does glass get any more brittle than it was new? I mean really? They aren't plastic! LOL

Actually, I thought these lenses were pretty tough and thick, to be honest.

I wonder if you could put that clear bra wrapping over the lenses to protect them from getting chipped? When I first put on my ZO4 front end, I got brand new fog lamp assemblies from the local dealership. My passenger side didn't last the summer before getting a chip in it.

That's my plan once I get a set that meets my approval... hell the entire front end will be done in clear bra once I get it repainted. Up yours rock chips!

They are very tough. But a well placed rock will just ruin them.

I have bits and pieces of clear bra lying around. I can cut some to fit your lenses if you want and mail them to you, cheap. It's as easy as applying a sticker.
