Changing wheel studs

Post by Guest »

They have splines on them. they have to be hammered (shade tree way) or there is a special tool that I know of, I think AutoZone loans it out that is like a c clamp with an end small enough to fit in the hole. Use a hammer tap and 4 washers and a reguler steel wheel nut to turn it in. Tap turn the nut, tap turn the nut until it is seated to the hub.

Also the Wheel nut is TQ'd down to 190 foot pounds. My torque wrench only goes to 150, so I go to that, then turn it another few clicks to get it up there in the general area. I haven't ever had problems.
