I am getting new tires this summer, but lately I have been thinking about 225/50 over 205/55. The wider tire is going to give slower a slower ET from the greater rolling resistance and the worse aerodynamics, but it will also give me more traction out of the hole than the 205 and 195s I currently have on. The rim is a Mille Migila MM11-2.....16"x7" is there going to be any issues with a 225 here? What have you all done? Have you been to the track and noticed a major drop in time, or noticed a difference in rollons?

The stickiness of your new tires will probably be all the grip you need, so I say go 205/55

or 225/40, I'm still waiting for someone to try that width/ratio and see what happens

Canada....you don't NEED traction...your car can only turn them over when it's cold anyway

I still say 205/55R16 as that's a great compromise tire that is VERY common, fairly cheap, and gives you everything you'll need since you don't turn much anyway.

I am very happy with 225's and cry each day with these 205/15's:)

Actually,  I was asking why would anyone wants 225/40/16 tires for a Beretta.  The gap would be gigantormous (:p) for a car that hasn't been lowered at least 2"s

So to answer canada's question, wider width equal more contact patch that will grab the road, thus better traction.

Which he doesn't need, as his car can't turn the tires over anyway (well....sometimes, but only a little)........

And he doesn't turn THAT much (crappy Iowa roads are all stright...dammit), and he doesn't need the extra frictional and aerodynamic losses of a 225mm tire.

The otehr thing that hinders wider tires is far worse wear.  A wider tire is more susepable to shoulder wear from alignment angles being out of spec.  most notably the toe angle.  Sticking with the factory size 205/55s would be best.

Surely Iowa MUST have some on/off ramps!  Thats where the fun is.

a plus sizeing a width on the same rim width will lower steering response as well as a few other quirky properties, but for the average driver, you won't really notice.

I'm getting a new set of azenis i think i'm going to get 215 45 16's....

Wider tread works for me cause I do attack the turns very aggressively.  Everywhere within Washington of off the Interstates are turns, and turns.  I noticed the difference between the sizes as soon as I started driving.  Within the first week of driving with my new Kumho, my brother looked at it and was like, "damn...".  Instant wear

My answer was more toward that respect.  I didn't know where Canada lives.  

Also with the drop and ballsy tread design 225's look so MEAN on my car:)

I will have to take a closer pic of the S03's on my Z wheels.  They are 225 and look sharp how they hang over the edge of the wheel just bit.  If he is getting aftermarket wheels I would say go 225.  It's not like he's a 12 sec camaro so it won't affect him much.  I lost around a .5 to .75 mph.  But my 60ft dropped also.
