Possible thermostat problem?

Post by CoolZ26 »

I've been noticing on my commutes to work that my temp guage never goes any higher than between the Cold mark the and 1/4 mark.  The heater blows somewhat warm air.  I think its the thermostat since the car has 144k and its never been changed.  Can anyone tell me what temp thermostat to get for a 94 3100 and also where the thermastat is located?  I checked it out for about a minute on my way into work yesterday but it was getting dark.  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I would get a 180 t-stat--it is located at the end up your upper rad hose on the engine side....2 13mm nuts/bolts and there it is..has a rubber o ring around it--be sure to replace it too.

So Chris do you know a special trick to changing the thermo on the 3100's?  I remember changing mine and it was a pain in the ###.  All the bolts were hard to get at etc..

He may be thinking about the 2.8/3.1, they're easier to get to if I remember correctly...

Changing the thermo on my Z26 was a pain in the @ss.  The header crossover is blocking where you need to get to.  Hope you have some swivels and a few hours.
