3400 intake

Post by Decipha »

I just swapped a 3400 upper and lower intake on my 95 base.  All wen't well except for the egr and map sensor, i didn't route the wire thru the side for the map sensor so it isin't connected. Also the egr isin't connected.  I tapped off the end so exhaust fumes wouldn't come thru but i still have the problem with the egr.  That is the only two things still disconnected from the swap.  Right now the car starts but will not run unless i press the gas pedal, im thinking its not getting enuff air.  The fuel pressure is up and im getting fire.  Could the egr and map sensor be enuff to cause the car not to run right?  Sometimes it over revs even tho i do not give it more gas.  Just to clarify everything this is what i did for the swap.

3400 upper and lower intake from a 2000 grand am
reused my original 3100 TB
everything else is original from the beretta.

i also have no brake pedal it is very firm, im assuming the vaccum isin't enuff to cause the brake booster to work, the line is connected tho.  if anybody has any ideas plz give advice.

you absolutely have to connect the map sensor and plug off the egr port at the intake manifold

did the 3400 lower plenum fit with no grinding to clear the rocker arms? I believe thats part of the procedure if you do not have roller rockers.

i did not grind the lower intake, it seems to fit well, didn't have any clearance issues, and the car doesn't make any odd noises so im assuming all is well

as for the egr it is disconnected, thats my vacuum leak problem right there im gonna try and rig it up some kind of way for the time being but hopefully i can get the car running right soon

The MAP sensor must be connected.  Otherwise the ECM cannot control the air/fuel mixture and it will not run right.  Also, the EGR Port should be plugged on the manifold, that is probably why you have no brake boost as this is a HUGE vacuum leak.
