Intercooled intake?

So I saw an eclipse the other night that had it's intake ran threw the intercooler because he sold his turbo. I was wondering if this could be done on my 95 3100 and be in anyway worth it. I've heard a lot about how the 3100 likes cool air and I thought this might be a good experiment. Any thoughts or tips about this would be nice.

IMO It's a waste of money, you could buy something that would actually make your engine perform a lot better for the price you would pay for that intercooler, Besides the fact that intercoolers and aftercoolers are used in turbocharged and supercharged engines because when the air is compressed it creates heat as well as the supercharger or turbocharger itself causing a small Amount of heat So the cooler is needed in that case. The air going into your engine if you have a true cold air intake Is probably as cold as it can get, and I feel if you put in an intercooler or something like that the tons of piping would get warm and just cause the air to get warmer

Well is there a CAI system for a 3100? and what other mods could I do that would make it preform better as opposed to the intercooler idea?

You can get a Tranzgenic CAI kit for the 3100 from Ryan aka "Styluss".

That stock 3100 downpipe is one of the biggest power bottlenecks on the engine.

My stock intake pipe has electrical tape wrapped around it and I think there is something wrong with it. When I really get on it on the gas my car just chugs a lil bit then I get a sudden rush of power. Idk if it's my transmission or what but I know it isn't preforming like it should be. How much does Styluss charge for those kits?

It also sounds like you might have a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) problem -when you really punch the accelerator, if the engine hiccups a little before it takes off, that is usually a good indication that the computer didn't expect the sudden change in throttle position (due to a bad TPS...) and didn't add enough fuel to compensate.

As for running the intercooler... Don't, for all the reasons already mentioned, and also because running an intercooler without forced induction will typically reduce power, because the intercooler is restrictive.
