Exhaust/fan question

Post by Bman Gtz »

I just installed my headers but I find the exhaust has quieted down too much, almost no raspiness, I wanna add some, it was suggested to me to remove the resonator and this should increase it, does anyone know if this is in fact the case? Also, I need to go with a thin fan, so was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as my stock 95 one will not fit. Thanks.

I put a resonator on my Honda to get rid of the rasp, so take yours off and you should get back some of that noise you want.

defiantly remove the resonator.. its a huge restrictive part. i removed mine on stock engine and it made a noticeable difference in throttle response and sound. you will gain alot more power not having it there.

i have aftermarket cat no resonator and 2 1/4 exhaust to the rear axle, i never got around to completing it all the way, made a huge difference in throttle response with manifold and stock engine.

I'm looking at the Flexalite F21133 fan, slim, and pushed 1250 cfm, what does a stock fan push?

other than the header, what do you have for the rest of your exhaust?

If you want the car to run cooler try a 180 thermostat. It's so much cheaper and works great. My flowmaster is raspy but i hate it.Kinda sounds nice when your decelerating=)

Its more of a fitment issue than cooling issue I would think... and I'm guessing he was asking CFM to ensure he's matching or doing better than the stock fan and not under-sizing it.

Well i don't see the point in spending 2 hundred on a single fan.
You can pull a dual fan from a 95 grand prix and i believe it slimmer.
If i remember correct.Or take the blocks that hold the fan and just use a washer like i did=)

What is the diameter of your tubing before and after the Y?
You must have already removed the resonator as you didn't post that you had one. Just an FYI, resonators pretty much never lose power.
