Jack shaft
I am working on my 1991 beretta 5 speed. Replacing an axle as it was remanufactured and failed. I bought a brand-new one this time. My problem is the Jack shaft mounting, I have a rear engine mount I move it out of the way to get the jack shaft off. Is it supposed to be on top of the engine mount or under it. I wish I could have taken a picture but I was covered in undercoating I was looking in the factory service manual but Was unable to find anything.

3.1 5 speed sorry i should have included that. Most of the 2.2s i have seen use a long CV on the passenger side and no jack shaft.

That is correct. I thought I had a picture of mine but I can't find it. I won't be able to look for it for awhile because I'm going to Vegas. Ill check back later.

Re: Jack shaft
something odd about this jack shaft and the engine mount is that it seems the bolts back out often, I have lost the top jack shaft bolt 2 times now. Can anyone think of a cause?

Not tight enough, or you didn't use thread locker if you can't get it tight enough.
The only reason a bolt comes out is because it's not tight, or it's in a spot that vibrates rotates enough to require thread locker. That spot I can't see requiring thread locker but if you can't get it tight enough then I would put some on to give it a chance at staying in there.
