Broken knock sensor makes GTZ FAST! LOL
Okay so the shop that installed a new clutch and fork also broke my knock sensor. Stupid shop manager refuses they had anything to do with it.
Well anyways the car feels alot faster than normal. I loving it but ofcoarse im sure it wont last long.
So to confirm, the knock sensor is located on the rear of the engine? I know on the LD9 its on the front.
The plug itself as actually broken, it doesnt snap on the sensor and stay on. Doesnt help that its not a typical wire that I can just wire in a new plug. Its one of those wires like the 02 sensor is.

if the car feels "faster" with it unplugged then you have some issues that it's sensing when it is plugged in that should probably be addressed...

Simply said it's sensing knock.. so its either the timing is too far advanced for what you have going on, or there is some fuel delivery issue...
I have no idea where it is.

The knock sensor is on the front of the motor underneath intake manifold iirc.. I could be wrong though

From my experience these sensors sense knock far too easy.
I've been following datalogs from my 3.1, completely stock, and it also senses knock on heavy acceleration with 95 octane fuel... Bleh, I tuned my knock-attack-rate to about quarter of what it was, works better.

On the 2.3 Quad, it is on the rear of the block, towards the transmission, underneath the exhaust manifold. If you know it is broken, how do you not know where it is?

Re: Broken knock sensor makes GTZ FAST! LOL
Well i have worked on 2.4L and the knock sensor is on the front.
And well this is just another one of those things the shop broke and refuses to admit it. So...............the plug was not plugged in. I plugged it in and it does not stay on. So im guessing its the plug or sensor.
But i just took a wild guess and assumed its a knock sensor since what else could it be? A sensor in the block....had to be a knock sensor.

So really in this whole thread you were trying to identify which sensor was broken on your car...

Bingo!
But i guess also....how does one install a new plug. Cuz im sure the sensor is fine but the plug itself needs to be replaced.

If you need to re-wire that, invest in a soldering iron, some solder, and some heat-shrink tubing. Get a replacement connector with a couple of inches of wire, and do it right. If it doesn't come out the way you want it to, cut it off and try again.
Yeah, they bounced that KS around on the Quad/Twin Cam engines. They actually put it back on the later production 2.4 engines into the rear of the block again...

Knock sensors are on the back of the motor under the exhaust manifold. I took my manifold off to replace mine. Its a one wire round connector. Is that the sensor you're talking about?
