Re: 1992 frankenberetta
Autoprom for the win!
Strange that it's fine in open loop and goes crazy in closed. If the tune was bad it would be better in closed loop than in open.
Code 42 I thought was only on TBI setups like my truck. It's the code you get when you forget to plug the timing set wire back in! haha

Re: 1992 frankenberetta
Should run perfectly fine with 3100 injectors and a stock tune, that's what's in my indy currently.

Re: 1992 frankenberetta
Intake heads and sfi function when using a stock ecu... And mechanical changes. Not enough flow difference to make it not idle on a stock chip.

1988GTU - Using the 1992 stock fuel pump. it has more than enough pressure/flow to run this motor
So what I am gathering from this thread.
1. Didn't need to buy a chip as the 3100 should have ran fine with the 3.1 tune.
2. Somethings broken
I really can run these motors with a stock tune?

Re: 1992 frankenberetta
It will run it yes, but I'm not saying it will be optimal because you will always need a tune of sorts... But it's not radical enough of a change that the stock chip wont allow it to start and idle.

I should have said the car was a 1992 3.1 v6 it's only got a 2.2 transmission
Re: 1992 frankenberetta
Did you replace anything ignition-wise with the swap??? I will second what Jon said about being able to run on the stock chip. Items to fail and set the code 42 are the ICM and ECM. Swap one at a time with known good pieces to find your culprit. Check your coils too.
Re: 1992 frankenberetta
Go over the following and see if it'll resolve the issue or steer you in a corrective action.
A Connections between ignition module and ECM bad somewhere or routing of EST harness suspect or ignition wires interrupting signal.
B. No bueno ignition module (could be bad)
C. ECM is bad

Re: 1992 frankenberetta
Did all of that, next going to run all new wires to the ICM. Will update after that
Re: 1992 frankenberetta
You have to create the crank to icm harness just as GM did for the ecm being used.
I find it much less headache to reuse a crank signal wiring harness than to make one.
