Gtz will not go in first. Thoughts?

93 quad car, will not go in first at all. Running or not. Have to slam shiftier hard left to even make it to second. 3,4,5,reverse all perfectly fine. Any ideas where to start?

Bad cable is my guess, for easier checking purposes.

Bolt that attached the cable to linkage was rigged, all kinds of play in it. All fixed now.
